Gingham Dress in the Sunflowers

I’ve always wanted to shoot blog pics in a field of sunflowers. Growing up in New England, I took the foliage for granted. Well well well…yesterday we set out to cross this photoshoot off of my bucket list. It turned into quite an adventure after the farmer kindly asked us to remove ourselves from the property. Whoops! Luckily the sunflowers in Connecticut are abundant, and we relocated to another sunflower field before the sun went down. So what does a city girl wear in the country, you may ask?! A gingham dress with a twist…literally and figuratively!

I thought it would be fun to showcase this gingham dress two ways: casual in the country side, and “extra” in NYC. I’m far from basic. In fact, my version of classic is classical funk! This black and white number is not your average gingham dress. The fit and flare silhouette is bodacious and the cutout halter design adds an edgy flair. Without much stretch in the material, size up for a comfortable fit.

New York Fashion Week begins tomorrow. While the shows and events are all fun to attend, I personally love the street fashion. It is the one time of year where you can wear whatever the HECK you want and no one will bat an eye. Dressing up this ensemble will be fun. I plan to incorporate clear sandals, lucite earrings, and a pink belt bag. Be sure to follow along on Instagram stories for exclusive behind the scenes NYFW footage!
