Long lasting Makeup Tutorial

I finally discovered a recipe for long lasting makeup. I’m talkin’ 12 hours long! Getting ‘TV ready” is becoming routine at Kelsey Kaplan Fashion HQ (pinch me!) so I’ve experimented with old and new products to find just the right concoction. It is my pleasure to share with you my latest beauty secrets and a live tutorial on IG TV. After you watch the video, be sure to add the items below to your cart for a flawless look.

For the Face

Urban Decay Urban Defense Complexion Primer: I begin with this facial primer because it serves two purposes. It prepares your face for foundation application while protecting your skin from UV rays. Built in SPF 30 for the win.

Beautyblender: This little sponge is pure magic. I use this to apply my primer, foundation, and concealer.

DipBrow: Y’all already know my thoughts about primped brows…take it a up a notch with Dipbrow by Anastasia. Word of advice: a little bit goes a long way. As seen in Medium Brown.

Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer/Eyeshadow primer: This formula doubles as an eyeshadow primer and concealer. It provides just as much coverage as the highly touted Shape Tape, but what makes it unique are its build-able and blend-able qualities. Those of us who suffer from dark circles appreciate a full coverage concealer, but the difference between a good one and a GREAT one is the ability to touch up and add to your base. As seen in Golden Beige.

L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation: This is by far my favorite drug-store foundation. It goes on like butter (with the help of a damp beauty blender!), it is water-resistant, and gives me a bronzy glow. I often use the “full coverage” version because most of the time I am getting camera or video ready, but I can also vouch for the medium coverage blend. As seen in Caramel Beige.

NYX Wonder Stick: Give yourself the cheekbones you have always desired with a reliable contour stick like this one. As seen in Medium Tan

Rosita Highlighter: Accentuate your cheek bone with this shimmering highlighter.

Heart Beat Cheek Color: If you are into rosy hues, then this blush color is for you.

All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray: For a flawless and airbrush appearance spritz this stuff over your face before applying your lip color. Works like a CHARM.

Lip Color: My go-tos as of late are Shades by Shan Dusty Rose and Sephora brand Marvelous Mauve. You cannot go wrong with either of these neutral pink tones. As seen in Dusty Rose.

For the Eyes

Flower Child Eyeshadow Palette: I’ve tried all the pink hues, but lately I’m gravitating towards this Shades by Shan palette. These cosmetics are certified organic, gluten free, and cruelty free. If that all sounds intriguing then this long lasting makeup is for you!

Almay Pen Eyeliner: This little thing is the perfect hybrid of a traditional pencil and liquid eyeliner. I love it because you get the bold effect of a liquid liner, but the control and ease-of-use of a pencil. I think I am going on month four…it takes a while for this stuff to dry up. Take my word for it and buy it online. This pen is almost always sold out at my neighborhood pharmacy. As seen in Black.

Velvet Noir Primer: OMG where have you been my whole life?! Long, dark, voluminous lashes are my signature style. With a few swipes of this primer your lashes will separate perfectly and you will maximize their length.

Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara: Again, the difference between a good product and a GREAT product is its build-ability. I cannot leave the house without painting my lashes in Marc Jacbos’ Velvet Noir mascara. Never have I ever been happier with my eyelashes. It does not flake off and you can give yourself a refresher clump-free at the end of the day.

Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid: Add this little miracle worker to your makeup kit…like yesterday! If you suffer from dark circles this little bottle will become your new bff. It helps “correct” the discoloration under your eyes. Without it, your concealer may have a gray tint versus a brightening affect. As seen in Deep Peach.

Secret Brightening Powder: Now that you know how to brighten your under eye area, you can make it last ALL DAY. Tip: “bake” the powder under your eyes for 2-3 minutes while you apply your contour. As seen in Fair.
