Home Office Reveal: Glamorous and Gold

Where do you prefer to work? A coffee shop, the office, or perhaps your own home office? We all operate differently…some people thrive on the camaraderie that is associated with a traditional office setting. Some of us are more productive from our at-home dedicated work space. I am the most productive when I work from my desk in my home office! Today I am sharing with you how I transformed a small 10×10 room into an inspirational fashion haven!

White and Gold

I spend a lot of time in my office writing and editing photos for my blog. It is in this very room where I dream up outfits, plan content, and find inspiration for future projects. The white and gold color scheme is very intentional…it mimics a blank canvas! I find I am the most creative when I eliminate clutter. A clean white desk with enough space for only the essentials was my priority!

Aside from writing articles and posing for pictures, it is also my job to receive and process shipments. Call me the box lady! I receive several packages a week and need somewhere to store my wares. Fortunately this room had a great closet already, but the addition of this armoire was a game changer! I pack it with freshly steamed clothing and hang the outfits I will be photographing next. It helps streamline my workflow and keep things tidy.

The closet and armoire are great for hanging clothes and storing boxes, but shoes and accessories need a home too! That’s where this media console came to play – I use it as a display case for some of my most prized possessions. Plus, there is so much surface area for jewelry and other miscellaneous items. I contain clutter with these storage bins and they are the perfect shade of gold!

The Fixings

I’ll be the first to admit that I do not love carpet. However, I needed all 100 square feet to be functional in this space…that includes the floor! I settled on this area rug because it’s neutral and comfortable enough to sprawl out on when I need to.

What good is an office closet aka a “cloffice” without a full length mirror?! I love this one because it is light and compact. Sometimes it lives in the corner near my desk, and sometimes I move it to the middle of the carpet. It depends on the day!

Don’t let wallpaper scare you! It’s not all messy and permanent. What you see in my home office is a revolutionary product by Tempaper. This stuff goes up easy, removes clean, is steam and moisture resistant, and best of all it is TEMPORARY! My friend and I started this project around 9:30 on a Friday night and were done by midnight. Tempaper is a cost effective way to create an accent wall in your mod space. You do not have to pay hefty installation fees and there are prints/patterns available in a broad price range. But you can resurface more than walls with Tempaper…I created balance in the room by covering the armoire in the same gold and white print.

Let there be Light

A complementary light fixture goes a long way…and there is actually a funny story behind this one! Approximately 15 hours before ABC7 San Francisco was coming to film a fashion segment from my home office, (on a Sunday evening), I decided I wanted a new light fixture. After googling light fixture stores, I found myself on the Lamps Plus website. There she was: a beautiful flush mount imitation crystal light fixture. I called to make sure it was available in the San Francisco store and sure enough it was. I immediately began messaging TaskRabbits who included “electrical work” in their repertoire. Exactly 3 hours after my epiphany, my new light fixture was installed. The hustle was worth it because as we filmed the final touches of the segment, the producer looked up and said, “Whoa! That is a beautiful light fixture.” I smiled and thought to myself, “if you only knew!” When there’s a will, there’s a way.
