I do not splurge often, but when I do, it is on Alice and Olivia. There is something to be said about the quality of products that come from a well-established brand. I am sure you can all relate with the quality control problems in the retail industry. You know, when you try on two of the same dress in the same size and they both fit differently. I can assure you that this doesn’t happen with Alice and Olivia clothes. So what defines a well-fitting pair of pants? Pants that accentuate your unique body shape. Pants that highlight your assets. With no surprise, the perfect pant fit like a glove right out of the box. After my tailor cut off six inches (story of my life) I strut my stuff in ’em for three different occasions!

Consider it a sin to pair the “perfect pant” with a subparr top! There is nothing that I adore wearing more than pops of color with black and white accents. This wrap front crop top fits the bill as it’s bold and mature. But they would not be perfect if you could only dress them in one top. When your closet begins to overflow, request a “Clean Out Kit” to your doorstep and begin packing away your once loved fashions. Send back the bag with the included prepaid shipping label, and begin earning cash for the pieces you are no longer wearing. Professional buyers set the asking price, similar to a high-end consignment shop, however you have one week to make adjustments as you please. When consumers shop your goods, use the money to purchase gently used styles for yourself on the thredUP storefront, or transfer the funds to your PayPal account. If items in your kit do not sell, reclaim your possessions or allow the hire-ups to donate your garments to a good cause. If this is not “cleaning out your closet made easy,” I do not know what is!

Over the weekend I took this pair of Alice and Olivia shorts for a test run. These babies are valued at over $150, and I scored them for just under $40 at thredUP. They were beautifully packaged and in excellent condition – it doesn’t get any sweeter than that! I styled them with the same white blouse from last week’s post “Denim Shorts and Flatform Sandals.” If you look closely, you’ll notice that the top looks completely different. That is what happens when you wear it the correct way the second time around! I forgot to affix the ruffle over my biceps in last week’s post…oops. Anyway, I polished off the look with a pair of lace-up gladiator wedges and a contrasting blue purse. After wearing out my cognac gladiators last summer, it seemed very fitting to welcome the spring with a new black pair.

When the higher ups at Lazy Bear (or any other trendy establishment) tell you, “ most guests tend to dress smart casual or slightly dressy,” go all out! There are never enough occasions to get fancy, so why not seize the opportunity?!

On that note, I decided to debut my Alice and Olivia  dress to Lazy Bear last week. The black shimmery thread, intertwined with olive tweed fabric, make this dress suitable for a holiday party, a cocktail hour, or a dinner.  With the right accessories, it can go from edgy to glamorous in a matter of seconds. I love a piece like this because if you re-wear it a few times during the season, you can change it up enough that it won’t look like you’re in the same outfit. Anyway, I went for the edgy look and styled the dress with black-toned jewelry a fabulous BCBG ombre faux-crystal clutch, black peep toe booties and a bright pink lip. The weather in San Francisco is rather mild, so I could get away with bare legs and arms, but if the temperature had dropped, I would of thrown on a cropped black jacket (a longer hem may not work well with the bubble silhouette), some sheer black tights, and closed toe booties for a chic but toasty look.

If your boyfriend or spouse is having a hard time coming up with a “Casual Smart” ensemble, have him refer back to this look.
