Pom Pom Beanie and Distressed Denim

If you follow me on Instagram, then you witnessed my Khloe Kardashian moment last Friday for New Year’s Eve. Long story short, I asked Kristin at the Red Chair Salon to give me Khloe hair and she nailed it. Anyway, I had another one over the weekend in my new pom pom beanie from Jess Lea Boutique, and gold earrings. I thought it was good enough to share.

I cannot stress enough the importance of accessorizing. Maybe I am preaching to the choir, but this look perfectly demonstrates how the right add-ons can transform a look. In all seriousness, without the pom pom beanie this outfit would be lacking pizzaz! When creating this look, I started out with a cute black and gold striped tee. Going for an edgy vibe, I paired the top with black distressed jeans – my answer for everything lately. While there is nothing wrong with jeans and a tee, I took it up a notch, incorporating a cape blazer into the mix. These toppers are quite possibly the chicest pieces of the season. Further embellishing the outfit with a tassel necklace, gold jewelry, and a taupe handbag, it is safe to say this black on black ensemble went from bland to fab in a matter or seconds.

I hope Khloe K would approve!

Winter Pastels: Rose Quartz

Gone are the days where it is only acceptable to wear pastels during the spring months. But don’t take my word for it…take Pantone’s word for it – “the world-renowned authority on color.” The verdict is in and Rose Quartz (pale pink) and Serenity (periwinkle) have officially been named the 2016 colors of the year. For more about that, read last week’s Wish List Wednesday post. Anyway, consider this article your permission slip to wear all of the cotton candy colored outfits you can come up with.

Pantone’s big announcement was very exciting news to me. There is something so blissful about pastels. While you’ve probably begun to notice candy-colored shades in all shapes and forms at your favorite stores, I delved right into the trend with none other than a Rose Quartz cape coat! Crafted out of a luscious microsuede, this piece will sweeten up any soft-hued ensemble. I paired this cape with winter white flare jeans and added a hint of glam through my accessories. The iridescent earrings and glitter pumps popped nicely against the pink, and the metallic clutch brought the whole look together.

Little Black Cape Dress

Great news for all of you Union Street shopaholics. The chicest boutique in town, Current Clothing, just received a new shipment of HOT fall styles. From skirts, tops, faux leather jackets, denim, to accessories – you name it they’ve got it! With more than one cocktail occasion on my October calendar, I scooped up this LBD.

As you are aware, I have a minor obsession with capes. They are the perfect finishing touch to nearly any ensemble – dressy or causal. Naturally, when I laid eyes on this black cape dress, it was love at first sight! There is no such thing as too many little black dresses, but before you add another to your collection, ask yourself why this one is different from the rest. This LBD is unique because it features long sleeves and a cape. Long sleeves are a plus for San Francisco fall weather and the cape adds a nice flair. Taking advantage of every opportunity I have to rock open-toe shoes before I retire them for the year, I styled this number with taupe fringe sandals and a matching purse. I polished off the look with glitzy statement earrings and a red lip.

Look like a Million Bucks in Five Minutes or Less

I don’t know about you, but more often than not, I find myself thinking, “there aren’t enough hours in the day!” Speaking on behalf of millennials, we don’t like to miss out. As a result, we over extend ourselves. Maybe it’s just in our blood, but we jam pack our schedules so much so that there are days where the phrase, “running around like a chicken with your head cut off” becomes reality! So, if there is one thing you take away from this post, make it this: no matter how busy you are, you do not have to compromise your fashion style.

Add a cape to your wardrobe and thank me later. This hot item will singlehandedly change your life when you’re having one of those “I have nothing to wear moments.” If you already own a cape or two (or four in my case!), the next item you should invest in is a pair of distressed jeans. Who would have thought ripped pants could actually glamorize your outfit?! Mesh Tan and White Lace Dress

Don’t get me wrong, I am a firm believer in investing in quality pieces. But from a practical standpoint, if you are going to hand over a lot of hard earned money just for an article of clothing, make it a classic. The nude pumps photographed below are a good example…yeah the red soles up the market value but they practically match with everything and as long as my feet don’t grow or shrink, the ROI (return on investment) should be pretty good. If you’re reading this blog, then I think it’s safe to assume that you’ve heard of the brand For Love & Lemons. But if you haven’t, they are famous for their beautifully crafted lace and sheer garments. From gowns, to mini dresses, to two-piece sets, the aesthetic appeal is out of this world and the craftsmanship is superb. The only catch is, they are about $300 a pop.

Leave it to the fabulous and oh so trendy Current Clothing for carrying a gorgeous knock off of the lace and mesh mini dress! This sheer and white stunner is only $89 and suitable for any fashion forward summer soirée or even the bride-to-be. A combination of tan mesh and white lace, rock this pretty little thing solo or pair it with a cape! I can’t decide which I prefer…cape or no cape? You be the judge! Wishlist Wednesday – Winter White and “Bare Pink”

I think it is safe to assume that every fashionista out there has a “wardrobe wishlist!” With holiday parties and plans already in the works, it is time to start thinking about outfits. You might find yourself beginning to ask, what should I wear for Thanksgiving…the first night of Hanukkah? Or, what is the appropriate attire for La Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) and Christmas this year? Well, luckily I have most of those outfits planned out, and I’ll be styling them for you in the near future, but what is on my wardrobe wishlist today, is this ultra girly/glitzy outfit by BCBGMAXAZRIA – PERFECT for New Year’s Eve night!

When planning a special occasion outfit, I always recommend starting with one essential piece, and then designing the outfit around that one piece. That one piece could be a dramatic pair of earrings, a statement necklace, a blinged out top or jacket, or a pair of fancy bottoms. Well, since fashion is cyclical and sequins have been “in” for the last decade, I am starting out my New Year’s Eve wishlist with a pair of rose gold Dena Snake-Sequined Leggings (pictured to the left)! These “hot pants” will definitely get heads turning.

Now on to the top. I chose the Nalia Short-Sleeve Blocked Top (pictured to the right) in “Bare Pink.” Since the leggings are the essential element to this outfit, I chose a plain top to balance out all that is going on below the waistline. Not only does this top tone down the sequins just a tad, but it’s an ideal top to wear with leggings. Its boxy silhouette compliments the skin-tight leggings, while the high-low hemline provides just enough back coverage. Whether or not you decide to add another layer, throw on your go to pair of nude pumps and Voila! You’re ready to ring in the new year in style.

I decided to complete this look with BCBGMaxazria’s Upas Cape (pictured to the left) because winter white is one of my favorite hues. Not only does it match everything, but just when you’re tired of your grays, blacks, and browns, incorporating winter white to your cold-weather ensemble will undoubtedly jazz up your look. Holding true to its name, this sleeveless cape simply covers your shoulders while giving off the appearance of a classic blazer.

To buy or not to buy?! That is the question!
