Winter Pastels: Rose Quartz

Gone are the days where it is only acceptable to wear pastels during the spring months. But don’t take my word for it…take Pantone’s word for it – “the world-renowned authority on color.” The verdict is in and Rose Quartz (pale pink) and Serenity (periwinkle) have officially been named the 2016 colors of the year. For more about that, read last week’s Wish List Wednesday post. Anyway, consider this article your permission slip to wear all of the cotton candy colored outfits you can come up with.

Pantone’s big announcement was very exciting news to me. There is something so blissful about pastels. While you’ve probably begun to notice candy-colored shades in all shapes and forms at your favorite stores, I delved right into the trend with none other than a Rose Quartz cape coat! Crafted out of a luscious microsuede, this piece will sweeten up any soft-hued ensemble. I paired this cape with winter white flare jeans and added a hint of glam through my accessories. The iridescent earrings and glitter pumps popped nicely against the pink, and the metallic clutch brought the whole look together.

Feather Jacket

As you are well aware, it was my blog’s first birthday, aka “Blogiversary” last Friday. Well, it wouldn’t be a proper celebration without a fab outfit, so I popped the champagne in style with my new feather jacket!

The Gianni Bini Lizzy Feather Jacket from Dillard’s, is officially my favorite piece of the year. Perfectly tailored, and ultra feminine, you’ll feel like a celebrity when you rock this fluffy thing. Wear it open, or fasten it closed, and style it with all black for the chicest look. I paired this jacket with a high neck lace bodysuit, steaming things up a bit. For bottoms, tuxedo pants seemed to fit the occasion, plus the slim legs didn’t interfere with the feather hem. You don’t want too much bulk under there!

I accessorized with pearl earrings and glitter pumps to incorporate some lighter hues back into the mix. These pumps are not your average heels, instead they are a killer knockoff of the ever popular Valentino Rockstud Pump. Available at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, for a fraction of the cost ($69), if you’re attending holiday parties this year, consider them a necessity. While there is nothing better than pink and gold sparkles in my book, if the rose gold is too flashy for you, the black and pewter pair is a great alternative.

Have your Popsicle and Wear it too this Memorial Day

With Memorial Day weekend quickly approaching, comes barbecues and social gatherings. Whether you are hosting or simply a guest, it’s always fun to rock a festive outfit and really get into the spirit of the holiday. If you are hosting, try wearing something that is easy to cook/move around in, like a pair or shorts, a skort, or a romper.

Food items are trending. If you’re an Instagram junkie, then I am sure you’ve noticed fashionistas decked out in cute donut t-shirts, pineapple graphic tees, fruit-shaped purses, etc. So when I came across this popsicle printed top, for a whopping $15.90 at Forever 21, it was too good to pass up. Playing along with the whole patriotic color scheme, I paired this top with royal blue scalloped shorts – although your go-to denim would work too. I tucked the top in for a tidier look as the shirt is boxy in nature. I accessorized with a vibrant necklace, blue Ray-Ban flash lenses, and red studded pumps.

No popsicles were wasted in the making of this post…

How to Wear a Boyfriend Shirt

Boyfriend this, boyfriend that, boyfriend everything seems to be trending in the fashion world. Already a huge fan of boyfriend jeans, I decided to give a bf shirt a try.

While this particular button down is from Liv Fashion Boutique, I’ve noticed them all over including Asos and Old Navy. Sticking to my own rules, I paired this top with a pair of colored skinny jeans. Being a boxy cut, I wanted to balance out the looseness with something fitted on the bottom. I chose bright green because I thought it would nicely contrast against the classic blue and white stripe. I think they did the trick! To add a little more edge, I decided on my pointy toe watermelon studded heels. These kicks never cease to flare up an ensemble in a matter of seconds. For jewelry, I threw on some gold bangles, peek-a-boo pearl earrings, my Ray-Ban flash lenses and lathered on my favorite red lip lacquer.
