Monochromatic looks are very easy to style. Simply pick a color and accessorize in the same or slightly different tone of the chosen hue. When dressing in a bright color, it’s safe to stick with the same tone (as seen here). With gray, however, it is wise to switch between light and dark. I accomplished this with a stone top, a slate bottom, and dual-tone shoes. I just so happened to have a gray manicure (and need a fresh one tomorrow), but nail polish and lip color is a nice way to offset the uniform color scheme.

Now let’s talk outfit details… the Velvet Bud Skirt is full of personality. The fabric is luxurious, and the tassel trim is extraordinary! Speaking of “basics with a twist,” this ribbed sweater qualifies as one. Score! I found the Mary Jane shoes for about $30 on Amazon and I really like how they pulled together the contrasting gray tones. Earlier I mentioned accenting your look with your makeup. If you dare to be bare, a fashionable cellphone case can have the same effect. I found this rustic floral one at Incipio – they always have the best iPhone covers. P.S. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Just Black, by Just USA, at Current Clothing. This line of jeans offers extraordinarily comfortable fashions at a very affordable price point. When I came across these high-waisted bell bottoms, there was no looking back! Only 5 feet tall, I take advantage of any “hack” that I can for an elongated appearance. These pants, my friends, will do just that! I paired these bottoms with a fitted off the shoulder top for a polished look and accessorized with a fringe statement necklace and flash lens sunglasses. If this doesn’t demonstrate the importance of accessorizing, I don’t know what does! Undoubtedly, the necklace makes the outfit.

Speaking of summer sales, this black and blue mini dress from Urban Outfitters is marked down to $39.99 online, and ten dollars less in stores. Featuring a “mock-neck” and keyhole back, this little thing has a lot of personality. For last night’s San Francisco Fashion Week event, I rocked it with my brand new Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots. I polished off the look with black statement earrings, a high pony (thanks to be ladies at The Red Chair Salon) and a bright pink lip. If this doesn’t scream 1970’s I don’t know what does!

These boots are made for walkin’…after trying on countless knock-offs, only to be disappointed by the fit, I can say with confidence that these boots are worth every penny. Just like a new computer, camera, or any other high ticket item, designer fashions are an investment. After wearing these stunners for five hours straight, straight off of the shelf, my feet were 100 percent pain-free. If you’ve been contemplating a pair of SW boots, do yourself a favor and buy them. You won’t regret it and they fit like a glove. A reliable look for less is the Steve Madden Gorgeous OTK boot – they run large – size down one full size.
