I cannot walk out out of the house in any old t-shirt and jeans. Everyone knows how to physically put on a top and pull up a pair of pants. But what makes me different and defines who I am as a fashionista is that I style ALL of the ensembles that I wear. I carefully curate every outfit so that the garments and the matching accessories make a statement. I am definitely not bragging, rather I am just being honest. It is my job to inspire people like you through the clothes that I wear! So if I share a look with you that does consist of a top and jeans, I can guarantee that it’ll be a good one!

Hopefully you agree that this velvet bodysuit and flare jeans combo is not your average top and jeans outfit! Better yet, it will make you appear a foot taller with hardly any effort. Petite women rejoice! It is only human nature to want what you cannot have. Luckily all it takes is a good pair of platforms (obsessed with these) and flare jeans to give you the long legs you’ve never had! I am happy to report the quality and fit exceeded my expectations. Flannel shirts often fit me like a boyfriend top – long and boxy. This plaid button down shirt is just the opposite. It fits like a glove and is the perfect length. For your reference, I am 5 feet tall and ordered a size 2 – if you have long arms or a long torso, size up. Anyway, with last minute plans to dine at the bar at Dosa, I paired this top with flare jeans and platform clogs. I chose white denim to dress things up a smidge, and accessorized with a wooden necklace and a fringe hand bag. Believe it or not, this fringey little thing is also from Amazon and makes a great boho statement piece.

The verdict is in – I give Amazon Fashion two thumbs up!

A few months ago I purchased this awesome fringe shrug from Nasty Gal. I had hoped for it to go over a chevron shirt, but that outfit did not turn out as planned. After the first failed attempt, I tried it with a denim skirt, a corduroy skirt, as well as a black on black ensemble. Still no luck, so it hung pretty and unworn in my closet for the last three months. It was not until I brought home these retro clogs that I decided to give the shrug another try. FINALLY it worked! Moral of the story: if you are going for a particular vibe, dive in head first. I was being too conservative when I originally styled this statement piece. I did not want to look too costume-y. Ironically, it looked best not only with a headpiece and clogs, but with flare jeans – I think we can all agree that bell bottoms epitomize 1970’s fashions. Great news fashionista, if you are ready to step out in funky 70’s garb, this shrug is now available in ivory, and I like it better than the one I own.

Without a plan in sight, I had no idea how I would style this jacket at the time of purchase. Luckily, I did know that it was too good to pass up, or it would have haunted me in my outfit dreams! Anyway, when you live in a moderate climate like San Francisco, you can never own enough lightweight jackets. I rarely leave the house without something to wrap up in once the sun goes down. Being a rather low key weekend, I paired this jacket with flare jeans. Although I debated over winter white, or traditional blue, I stuck with a classic hue hoping to accentuate the jacket’s tribal print. To pull out the golden tones I accessorized with a mustard purse and gold jewelry.
 

Make it a goal to shop with intention in 2016. You’ll quickly find yourself spending less money on more pieces you truly love and/or need.

I first styled the “I. Madeline Pearly Dewdrops Drop Light Peach Top” with dark boyfriend jeans. Wanting this look to be happy hour appropriate, I wore a pair of bedazzled chandelier earrings, a metallic clutch and woven heels. If you want to keep it casual, simply exchange the earrings for some gold studs, sling on your everyday purse and slip into your favorite flats. Leopard print would add a fun twist.

After the first run through, in boyfriend jeans, I decided this whole boho theme could go on further with some flare jeans. This time, I rocked a pair of statement earrings, the same metallic clutch and nude pumps. Like I said before, because this shirt is easy to match, it would look great with virtually any color denim, in skinny leg, bootcut, wide leg, you name it. I’m looking forward to the warm weekend weather so that I can try it out with some cut-offs and cognac boots. If it turns out good enough, I’ll snap a pic!
