Slingback pumps…love ’em or hate ’em? I’m not going to lie, I still had mixed feelings about them even after purchasing this white variation. I am pretty sure my grandma Nonie wore a similar pair to church on Sundays. But what makes this pair different (and by different I mean CHIC), is the pointy toe and round chunky heel. The more outfits I tried on with them, the more they grew on me. They are the fall version of a wedge sandal and I am so glad I found them! Suitable with jeans and dresses, this week on the blog you will see them paired with both. No grannie looks here!

Adding this multicolor sweater to your wardrobe is a great way to keep your fall apparel colorful! I am impressed at how comfortable and potentially warm it is considering the $25 price tag. It fits true-to-size and the cut is a loose. Layer away in this flashy little thing. Or, wear it to conceal your food-baby after you eat more than one ice cream cone. No one is judging you! I have a thing for pants. I would choose a pair of funky trousers over a skirt or dress any day! It’s probably because I’m so active and they’re easier to move around in. Anyway, this pair reminds me of my favorite televisions series, Dancing With the Stars. I have been a fan of frilly costumes since season one so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered this pair. Despite my admiration for the show, you’ll never catch me on the dance floor. Sadly, I have no rhythm (insert laughing emoji). We’ll call these pants my “everyday pair” instead!

Frilly pants are awesome for many reasons…do I even need to explain?! The high waist, however, is at the top of the list! High rise garments give you options. Dress them with a crop top for a playful ensemble or not for a classic one. But aside from outfit options, they give shorties like me long legs effortlessly (after the tailor chops six inches off, of course! #shortpeopleproblems). For today’s look, I styled these suckers with a long sleeve crop top of a similar tiered design. It is a lot of fabric but I love how the ruffles create movement on the upper and lower half of the ensemble. Sometimes less is not more. In true “over-doer” spirit, I polished off the look with pearl embellished sandals, shoulder dusters, and a chunky side braid.

A few months ago I purchased this awesome fringe shrug from Nasty Gal. I had hoped for it to go over a chevron shirt, but that outfit did not turn out as planned. After the first failed attempt, I tried it with a denim skirt, a corduroy skirt, as well as a black on black ensemble. Still no luck, so it hung pretty and unworn in my closet for the last three months. It was not until I brought home these retro clogs that I decided to give the shrug another try. FINALLY it worked! Moral of the story: if you are going for a particular vibe, dive in head first. I was being too conservative when I originally styled this statement piece. I did not want to look too costume-y. Ironically, it looked best not only with a headpiece and clogs, but with flare jeans – I think we can all agree that bell bottoms epitomize 1970’s fashions. Great news fashionista, if you are ready to step out in funky 70’s garb, this shrug is now available in ivory, and I like it better than the one I own.

As a natural sequin lover, when I came across these black hot pants, they were coming home with me. Although technically capri length, they fit me like cropped ankle length trousers…score! Featuring an exposed back zipper, pair these dazzlers with a crop top, or tuck in a traditional button down blouse. On this special occasion, I styled these pants with a white peplum button down shirt. Keep in mind, when you’re working with a statement piece, sometimes simplicity is key.

I accessorized this look with goodies straight out of this month’s Rocksbox (see promo below). The rhinestone necklace helped balance out my upper half, while the light pink Kendra Scott earrings added a sweet feminine touch. Incorporating blush back into the mix, I polished off the ensemble with my favorite metallic clutch by Urban Expressions.
