I am the first to admit that there are many items in life that I avoid wearing so that I am not mistaken for a 14 year old. Some people say this is a good problem to have, but there are times when it can become a bit cumbersome. Like when the TSA agent in Maui, a couple of months ago, asked me if I was old enough to travel alone! Yep, true story. Anyway, overalls have typically been on that list, however, it turns out when styled correctly, they can have the opposite effect. It is all about the under shirt and the shoes!

If you pair your overalls with a t-shirt and Keds, you’re asking for questions. Instead, style your overalls with a top that you would not find in the kid’s section. A lace bodysuit (seen here), or a sleeveless turtleneck demonstrated here, both fit the bill. I think we can all agree that this look would have a different feel if I had coordinated it with tennis shoes. Incorporating a racy shoe like a lace-up high heel gives off a mature vibe. To further age-proof the ensemble, I rocked a pair of tassel earrings and toted a black and white clutch purse.

With temperatures steadying out in the high 60’s, this week I could get away with bare legs and arms! And when you’re working with a fab piece like this embroidered skirt, there’s no need to overdo it. For that reason, I tucked in a plain black racerback top and embellished it slightly with a lace halter bralette – the best bralette on the market may I add! Sometimes varying textures is all it takes to add just enough flair to your ensemble. I rocked my tan wedge gladiators and maroon chapeau to bring out similar hues in the floral embroidery, and polished off the look with my favorite wood jewelry.
 

You will be seeing this skirt again during the fall months. I’m thinking a turtleneck with black fringe booties and gold jewelry…

Having a petite frame, I’m always cautious when it comes to one-size articles, but between the helpful product reviews and measurements, and the $13.29 price tag, I decided to give this one a go. Upon receiving it, I was pleasantly surprised that it fit just fine. Maybe it would be more of a crop top on someone taller, but I like that it hits just below the natural waistline. I went the casual route for this outing, and matched this beauty with neon green denim shorts. Following along with the tribal print theme, I laced up my gladiator wedges, and polished off the look with wooden bangles and earrings.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this colorful daytime look, the next time I rock this top, I’ll style it for a night on the town. Think black denim and patent leather pumps.

I was immediately attracted to this top because of the dual textures. Why buy a plain ivory top, when you can buy one mixed with some mesh?! Right off the bat I pictured it with a pair of blue or colored denim. But before I went down that road, I decided to turn it up a notch with a skirt! Maxi skirts can be very flattering garments – slimming and elongating with the right pair of shoes. This is especially true when you come across one with a slit. Hence the reason I was so excited to find the Maxi-mum Power Dusty Rose Maxi Skirt. This pretty is also available in black – a wardrobe staple if you ask me. Although a regular nude wedge would have worked, I paired this skirt with my favorite cognac gladiator sandals. The reason I suggest nude or skin tone is because white, for example, might “cut off” your legs in an unflattering fashion. When you are wearing a long garment like a maxi skirt, that is the last thing you want to do. A skin tone shoe on the other hand, creates length. Anyway, I polished off the look with cream and gold jewelry, and threw on a hat for a relaxed look. Don’t be surprised if you see this top pop up again on KK and GG in the next couple of weeks.

One afternoon while scrolling through my Instagram feed, I came across the cute online boutique, Jess Lea. I styled this playful dress with a belt to synch in the waist, along with some turquoise Kendra Scott earrings and wood bangles. The gladiator wedge sandals were a great finishing touch to my fiesta attire along with the straw hat and “Margarita Verde.” There ain’t no such thing as an on location shoot, in Mexico, without a rita in hand!
