Whether you are attempting to dress down a look, or dress up a look, chances are there is a scarf out there to help you accomplish your goals. Need a layering piece for some added warmth? I can guarantee there is a scarf out there to bundle up with. Heading out for a boat ride and need to tame your mane? There is a scarf out there to keep your locks in place. Desperate to cover up the infamous “turkey neck” (I kid you not!)? Grab a scarf and off you go. Moral of the story, the next time you find yourself debating over a scarf, just buy it, and you’ll thank me later!

Using a scarf to dress down a look is demonstrated in my post “How to Wear Boyfriend Jeans Day and Night.” With the addition of a light or pastel colored scarf, tone down a blouse for daytime wear.

Turn to faux fur or cashmere to dress up an outfit. In the post “New Year’s Eve Outfit,” I added a touch of glam with a black faux fur infinity scarf to ring in the new year.

Add some flare to a monochromatic scheme with a different color scarf! Checkout how I attempted this in the recent post “Look Glamorous in Gray.”

Teggy French rocks a silk YSL animal print hair scarf. Just like that, she’s added a little sass to her classic ensemble.

The same applies for men’s wear. Take this business casual outfit for example…it would be nothin’ without the scarf!
