]]> Medieval styles are making a comeback in the form of chainmail! Crafted out of interlocking metal rings (like a metal mesh fabric), this old time textile was worn as a form of armor during the Medieval Era. It protected warriors against sharp objects without sacrificing the flexibility that they needed on the battlefield. I was first introduced to “mail” during a costume history class at LSU. This imitation chainmail piece is a personal favorite for many reasons. One of which is its versatility. It is suitable for a black tie affair and everything in between with the right accessories. The fit is incredible and it is all because of the woven material. For today’s shoot I kept it classy with nude pumps and minimal jewelry. I haven’t decided whether or not to wear it as is on Saturday or if I should shake things up with a leather jacket and these embellished booties. Edgy or chic? That is the question!

Think complimentary colors…pair a mustard blouse with a plum pencil skirt. Or, rock a magenta crop top with high-waisted royal blue pants. I think you get the point. While creating a color block ensemble yourself is easy enough, such styles are also available straight “off the shelf.” The Scoop Neck Color Block Hollow Out Sleeveless Maxi Dress from RoseGal is a great example.     This neon dress is full of flavor and only $12.32 – no that is not a typo! The gray bodice is a perfect backdrop for the contrasting orange and green panels. If you didn’t think it was possible for a dress to glow, this maxi proves you wrong. The loose fit is comfortable for warm weather, but I prefer a tapered look…hence the reason I belted the dress. Not wanting to disturb the lovely cutout neckline, I accessorized with earrings rather than a necklace. These iridescent beauties are great because they reflect any color you wear. So here it is, for real this time, the last item in my Lilly for Target collection, the Sea Urchin for You maxi dress.

 

This beaut is elegant enough that is it is suitable for many occasions. You could easily pair it with some dainty high heels for a cocktail evening on the town or pair it with some white or gold flats for a casual yet very fashionable happy hour. I chose this dress for a romantic dinner overlooking the ocean. There’s no better time to wear a dress covered in sea urchins, sand dollars, and sea stars than when you’re on a beach trip. To avoid the potato sack look, I fasted a skinny chartreuse belt around my waist – my fav fashion hack. I accessorized lightly with a white and gold clutch, laser cut sandals and white statement earrings. If you haven’t noticed already, the top knot is my go-to vacation hairstyle and it’s a great way to show off some ear bling! Shop a variety of Lilly Pulitzer maxi dresses here.

 

In case you were wondering, dinner overlooking the water at Cocina Del Mar at Hotel Esperanza was exquisite! This goes for the service and the food. I highly recommend this four course dinner for a special occasion during your next getaway to Cabo. A special thanks to Chef Cerda for preparing this delicious off the menu steak with chimichuri and mashed potatoes.
