All Gray Outfit

In my world, gray goes unnoticed. As a lover of all things color I often gravitate towards bright hues and blacks when I’m toning things down. Apparently I’ve been missing out because not only is the color gray simply chic, but it is also a great neutral. Here is how to wear an all gray outfit without looking washed out.

Monochromatic looks are very easy to style. Simply pick a color and accessorize in the same or slightly different tone of the chosen hue. When dressing in a bright color, it’s safe to stick with the same tone (as seen here). With gray, however, it is wise to switch between light and dark. I accomplished this with a stone top, a slate bottom, and dual-tone shoes. I just so happened to have a gray manicure (and need a fresh one tomorrow), but nail polish and lip color is a nice way to offset the uniform color scheme.

Now let’s talk outfit details… the Velvet Bud Skirt is full of personality. The fabric is luxurious, and the tassel trim is extraordinary! Speaking of “basics with a twist,” this ribbed sweater qualifies as one. Score! I found the Mary Jane shoes for about $30 on Amazon and I really like how they pulled together the contrasting gray tones. Earlier I mentioned accenting your look with your makeup. If you dare to be bare, a fashionable cellphone case can have the same effect. I found this rustic floral one at Incipio – they always have the best iPhone covers. P.S. Burgundy Lace Midi Dress

I already told you about the LIKEtoKNOW.it party I attended during NYFW, but today it’s all about Lulus. It is no secret that I’m a lover of their apparel, so when I received the invite to the Lulus Style Studio, I jumped at the opportunity. The event was both fun and productive. There was a braid bar courtesy of Amika, a makeup station, wine and bubbly, and best of all an entire floor of merchandise. As if previewing the new arrivals was not fun enough, we all got to take home an item of our choice. It was an easy decision when I laid eyes on the Keepsake Sweet Nothing Burgundy Lace Dress!

If you are in the market for a special occasion piece, this is it. Crafted out of delicate burgundy lace, this dress will stun from every angle. The princess seams outline your figure, while the peek a boo lace compliments your legs. I’ve said it one, and I am saying it again, a sheer midi overlay is flattering for all heights. You do not have to worry about your legs being cut off at an unflattering place. #Shortpeopleproblems

Two years ago “Marsala” was named the color of the year. Ever since I’ve been a big fan. For that reason alone, I chose to stick to a monochromatic color scheme. There is nothing sleeker. Although both are from last year’s fall collection, the strappy sandals and cutout clutch paired perfectly with this burgundy lace dress. The next time you set out to find a LBD, consider rocking this dress instead. Happy Friday!

Denim Gaucho Pants

Gaucho pants are making a comeback and I’m one of many fashionistas riding the bandwagon! These bottoms are available in a variety of fabrics and patterns and are great for just about any occasion. On this trendy Tuesday, I’m breaking out a pair of Frayed Denim Gauchos. For a whopping $24.90, effortlessly step up your jean game and add a vintage flair to your fashion-forward ensemble with a pair of these.

When I stumbled upon these stonewash denim gauchos at Forever 21, it was a no brainer to scoop them up. Although suitable for a casual daytime occasion (think gladiator sandals, a boxy tee, and a fedora), I styled these bottoms for Happy Hour…after all, fancy is always better in the KK and GG handbook! A big fan of monochromatic color schemes, I stuck to blues and brought out some boho goodness with the addition of a Scalloped Floral Crochet top. I completed the look with baby blue lace-up shooties and a cream fringe bucket bag.
