Although I am a huge fan of color, there is nothing sharper than a black jumpsuit. Aside from the aesthetic appeal, black is suitable all year round making it a very practical wardrobe essential. Below are a few tips to effortlessly turn your dark pieces into summertime favorites.

Colorful Jewelry

Adorn your pantsuit with colorful jewels. In the featured look, I paired a bright turquoise necklace and ring with my jumpsuit. Not only did this brighten the look, but it gave the outfit a casual boho vibe. If turquoise doesn’t suit your fancy, coral is a great alternative.

Straw Accessories

Straw hats and purses, signify the summer. Whether you’re toting your beach wares or shading yourself from the UV rays, break out the straw goodies for June and July. The same rules apply with cork sole shoes and espadrilles.

Makeup

Although it is not as obvious as the tangible products you’re wearing, your makeup also contributes to the overall look. Keep the smokey eyes to a minimum and brighten your face with moonstone shadows and red lipstick (Dragon Girl is perfection). While you’re at it consider a red mani (Big Apple Red is my fav!)

There is something so tropical about printed bottoms and an off-the-shoulder combination. It reminds me of hula dancing on the beach (insert laughing emoji). While you will not catch me doing that any time soon, you can expect to find me in different variations of the ensemble mentioned above. The Floral Print High Waisted A-Line Skirt is just waiting for an OTS top and this cropped black version is the perfect mate. When you are working with a high-waisted garment, take advantage of the cut, and do what you can to show off that tapered waistline.

Playing off of the exotic theme, I styled this look with gladiator wedge sandals and turquoise earrings. A bare neckline is the perfect excuse to break out some killer statement earrings. It would not be New Year’s Eve without sequins and sparkles. Over the last decade the holiday season has truly become the “glitter season.” Last year I rung in 2015 in a metallic peplum top, but this year is officially a dress year. A bodycon midi is the perfect balance if comfort is a priority. The hip hugging silhouette shows off your curves, while the below the knee length keeps things classy. This glittery dress from Ambiance is classic with a twist, thanks to the mesh back and side paneling. When styling a statement piece, you do not want to over do it with accessories. That is why I paired this dazzler with matching t-strap sandals. To accentuate the gold and silver print, I stacked up some pewter bracelets, put on rhinestone earrings, and rocked a pair of gold 2016 glasses.

A sharp black on black ensemble seemed very fitting for this quirky film, so I paired a lace bodysuit with distressed jeans. Keeping the edgy vibe going, I accessorized with a floppy hat, peep-toe booties, and an ombre box clutch. This outfit would have been far less interesting without the finishing touch, the cape! The black and olive combination created just enough contrast and as a result, the lace sleeves really popped.
