A beautiful pink lace slit dress for less than $40. That is not a typo! Why spend a lot of money on holiday attire when you’re likely to retire it come the first of the year?! Here is how I take a look for less and make it look like a million bucks!

Timeless Accessories

Classic jewelry and accessories go a long way. Up your look for less with diamonds or pearls! Lately I have been toting this pearl purse with blush garments and it elevates the look effortlessly. No one would ever know it, but this exact bag is a designer dupe and about $500 cheaper than its counterpart. The same goes for the earrings. If you peruse Moda Operandi or Farfeth often, then you probably notice a close resemblance to Alessandra Rich jewelry. I am happy to report this pair is from Baublebar and under $50.

Wear it like you Own it

I think the heading speaks for itself. The greatest fashion accessory (in my opinion) is your confidence. If you walk out of the house in a dress you are unsure about, and constantly fidget with it, you will draw attention to it! But if you step out and OWN IT, no one will think twice. Rock your look for less like it’s from Neiman Marcus! Speaking of lavish items, do you recognize the backdrop in these photos?! Funk Up a Pink Ruffle Dress Like This

For an “influencer” like me, primarily in the fashion space, there is a constant pressure to establish an aesthetic. Experts say your photos should be so recognizable that your fans could point them out with or without your name on them. Think of a brand as iconic as Lily Pulitzer. Her bright and bubbly prints are SO easy to identify. Well, I have struggled with this since I first started my blog because I like a little but of everything. I am a lover of color, and appreciate edgy and feminine styles alike. I adore a thigh-high slit, but never miss an opportunity to wear classic pearls. To me, my brand is a mixture of all of those things, and this outfit exemplifies just that!

Often when I wear an ultra feminine style, I add my own an edgy flair by incorporating surprising accessories. Yes this pink ruffle dress would have looked great with my So Kate Christian Louboutin pumps, but that would be too predictable. Instead, I dressed it with open-toe sock booties. This sexy heel will likely draw attention to the legs, and I am ok with that! The same goes for the faux fur box purse…of course my white Gucci bag matches. But there is something funky about throwing in faux fur! Maybe that is the Kelsey Kaplan Fashion brand in a nutshell: Feminine styles with unexpected details?! Orange Trapeze Dress

Consider a trapeze dress an all-year-round wardrobe staple. This silhouette can go casual or dressy and you’re guaranteed comfort while wearing it. Over the weekend I broke out this rust trapeze dress during a neighborhood stroll with family friends.

This Stretch Knit Trapeze Dress from Forever 21 is only $14.90! Available in black, gray and rust, I went for the rust in spirit of fall. I find this hue rather versatile as it pairs nicely with brown or black accents. For this occasion I mixed in a little bit of both, toting around a cognac fringe backpack and rocking multicolored open toe booties. I adorned myself with jewelry to give the look some character. Specifically a cobalt blue necklace and a dainty knuckle ring that I received in this month’s Rocksbox. Again, one of the easiest ways to create pop is to work with complimentary colors (e.g. orange and blue).

If you’re on the fence about adding a backpack to your collection of handbags, keep this in mind. This backpack is suitable for a variety of activities and you’re guaranteed a ton of compliments. In the past week or so, I’ve used it: to carry my belongings while biking over the Golden Gate Bridge, as a grocery bag, and of course as a good ol’ purse. Where were fringe backpacks when I was in school and desperately needed one for my books?!

Black and White Never Fails

Black and white never fails. By that I mean this combination will forever be considered a classic. Whether it is a black and white dress, a jumpsuit, or shorts and a top, you cannot go wrong with a good black and white outfit. I like to throw together an ensemble featuring these hues when I am in a rush or having one of those, “I have nothing to wear” moments. Just like black on black, black and white requires little to no thinking at all!

When I came across the Nayala hooded heel by Izabella Rue on ShoeDazzle, I knew they would be the perfect finishing touch to a fashion-forward b&w look! Truly unique from any other style already in my shoe collection, these kicks look just like a 4.5 inch high open-toe bootie, plus a flirty tassel detail. I was pleasantly surprised by their level of comfort. I easily walked four or five blocks to our shoot location and my feet felt fine and dandy. With the shoe being the statement piece in this ensemble, styling the rest was pretty straight forward. I chose a pair of cut-off shorts because I did not want pants to coverup any of the goodness. Although virtually any black top would have worked, I chose a solid black twist front top from Current Clothing. This top is a great example of a basic with a twist! Pair it with a black cami for a traditional look or pair it with a printed bandeau for a boho chic look. Anyway, I accessorized with a fun tri-tone necklace and a gold knuckle ring with matching bracelet. How could I forget the plaid clutch wallet! You have probably noticed by now that this purse has become one of my go-to items. If you add it to your wardrobe, I promise it’ll become one of your favs too!
