Begin with a solid colored blouse. Rather than gravitating towards white or black, stick to a neutral, but go for something slightly more interesting like beige, ivory, or blush (as seen below). If possible, make it a neutral with a twist. As you can see, this blush top features white piping down the sides and a surplice back.

After that, adorn yourself in a printed scarf. I’ve said it once and I’m saying it again, transform a bland outfit into a fashion masterpiece in a matter of seconds with a fab scarf. For this look, I chose a geometric and leopard printed scarf – it did just the trick.

Now on to the denim…pair your top and scarf with embellished jeans. Stonewashed denim, coated denim, or distressed denim will work the best. While I am a huge fan of colored denim, it might become too time consuming matching your skinnies with your scarf. For this occasion, I chose dark blue distressed jeans. The color accentuated the blue in the scarf, while the rips added a touch of drama.

Finally, because it is a sin in my house to leave without accessories, grab your everyday earrings, stack some rings, and off you go, fashionable and punctual!

As a natural sequin lover, when I came across these black hot pants, they were coming home with me. Although technically capri length, they fit me like cropped ankle length trousers…score! Featuring an exposed back zipper, pair these dazzlers with a crop top, or tuck in a traditional button down blouse. On this special occasion, I styled these pants with a white peplum button down shirt. Keep in mind, when you’re working with a statement piece, sometimes simplicity is key.

I accessorized this look with goodies straight out of this month’s Rocksbox (see promo below). The rhinestone necklace helped balance out my upper half, while the light pink Kendra Scott earrings added a sweet feminine touch. Incorporating blush back into the mix, I polished off the ensemble with my favorite metallic clutch by Urban Expressions.

Today I am talking pants. If you’ve been keeping up with KK and GG over the last several months then you know by now that I never pass up a good pair. Having been on the hunt for camo print bottoms since last season, when I found these black toned Camo Skinny Jeans in Lord & Taylor’s Design Lab Shop, confetti started to fly. These pants are perfect for many reasons. To start, the black hues make them easy to dress up, and the zipper details give you options. What I mean is, you can unzip the legs for a straight leg fit rather than a standard skinny leg. Although an all black ensemble would work, I paired these jeans with a white top and nude pumps to create a softer look. Thanks to the fringe sleeves, accessorizing isn’t absolutely necessary, so I kept it light with a dainty gold necklace.
