“Sheer garments are “racy.” I understand why one would draw this conclusion…afterall, “sheer” is a synonym for see-through! BUT, when styled tastefully, sheer garments can be quite elegant. It is all about creating a balance. I love this top because it is a mature take on a classic print. It can be dressed two ways. Obviously I tied it down the front for these photos, but it can also criss cross and tie in the back. I honestly did not even consider the latter until I saw it here. For more coverage, pair it with a solid black bralette and tie it down the back.

I LOVE high waist pants. They sculpt your bod into an hourglass figure, but better than that, they give you outfit options! Before high waist garments were back in style, you could not pay me to wear a crop top. But now, send ’em my way! These pants are just as comfortable as they are attractive. They are stretchy and resilient. No need to worry about them losing their shape after the workday. But what totally sold me on ’em was the ankle slit. Why bother wearing a pair of pretty shoes if no one can see them?! Because let’s be honest, the better they look the worse they feel. Beauty is pain #AmIRight?!

Words of the wise, when in doubt, wear a little black dress! If you follow @kelseykaplanfashion on Insta, then you know by now that when it comes to outfits I am a planner! There is nothing worse than being rushed into wearing something you do not feel your best in. As a member of the San Francisco Junior League, as a class, we are hosting a March Madness Tip Off Party fundraiser, March 10th, at the Brixton. Although basketball paraphernalia is encouraged, I do not own any and let’s get real, I am a fashion blogger by trade! So, a little black dress it is and it might just be an all-time favorite.

Current Clothing is home to fabulous LBD’s. Last fall I fell in love with this one, and today I fell in love all over again with this one! There are a couple of things to consider when shopping for a LBD and this one fit the bill. The first being the silhouette. Shop the shape according to the occasion. If you’re going to a bachelorette party slip into a bodycon, a piano concert, go for a skater dress. I consider this one a perfect fit because it is suitable no matter the occasion!

The second factor to consider is the length. Again, your bffs last fling before her ring, a mini seems appropriate, while a longer length seems natural for an afternoon piano performance. I absolutely LOVE the midi length on this LBD because it’s modest enough to wear for a networking event yet spicy enough for a dinner date. Midis can be a hard fit on a petite frame so look for one with a front slit, or mesh material to avoid your legs from being “cut off” at an unflattering place.

When the dress is nearly perfect, accessorizing is easy. I embellished the look with a dainty bracelet, rhinestone earrings, and strappy sandals. It would not be New Year’s Eve without sequins and sparkles. Over the last decade the holiday season has truly become the “glitter season.” Last year I rung in 2015 in a metallic peplum top, but this year is officially a dress year. A bodycon midi is the perfect balance if comfort is a priority. The hip hugging silhouette shows off your curves, while the below the knee length keeps things classy. This glittery dress from Ambiance is classic with a twist, thanks to the mesh back and side paneling. When styling a statement piece, you do not want to over do it with accessories. That is why I paired this dazzler with matching t-strap sandals. To accentuate the gold and silver print, I stacked up some pewter bracelets, put on rhinestone earrings, and rocked a pair of gold 2016 glasses.

This dress is a favorite for many reasons. A halter neck gets me every time and the keyhole detail is ultra feminine. The best feature, however, is the hip-hugging faux leather midi skirt. The longer length balances out the slim fit silhouette, and the gold zipper detail creates just enough oomph. If it wasn’t for the high slit, this dress would not be flattering on a petite frame. Midi skirts tend to “cut off” our legs at an undesirable spot, making them appear shorter than they actually are. The steamy slit helps us avoid this fashion faux pas! I styled this dress with gold accents – a box clutch, vintage Miriam Haskell earrings, and nude pumps.

When something is hot, Current Clothing is the spot! Of course this chic boutique would carry such a fashionable item. This black and gold one-piece stunner is everything you’ve ever wanted in a romper. Unlike some onezies that take you back to kindergarten, this one is figure flattering and age-appropriate in several ways. First of all, you can barely even tell that the top and bottom are connected. The upper half is no different than your go-to black v-neck blouse, and the perfectly tailored skort synches right at the waist. What a treat when someone else does the thinking for once! To go along with the whole geometric theme, I threw on a pair of fishnet stockings. If you want to take your black ensemble from mediocre to fabulous, incorporating fishnets is an easy way to do it! With black and gold being one of my favorite combos, I simply accessorized with black heels and glitzy statement earrings.

I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Just Black, by Just USA, at Current Clothing. This line of jeans offers extraordinarily comfortable fashions at a very affordable price point. When I came across these high-waisted bell bottoms, there was no looking back! Only 5 feet tall, I take advantage of any “hack” that I can for an elongated appearance. These pants, my friends, will do just that! I paired these bottoms with a fitted off the shoulder top for a polished look and accessorized with a fringe statement necklace and flash lens sunglasses. If this doesn’t demonstrate the importance of accessorizing, I don’t know what does! Undoubtedly, the necklace makes the outfit.

As you are aware, I have a minor obsession with capes. They are the perfect finishing touch to nearly any ensemble – dressy or causal. Naturally, when I laid eyes on this black cape dress, it was love at first sight! There is no such thing as too many little black dresses, but before you add another to your collection, ask yourself why this one is different from the rest. This LBD is unique because it features long sleeves and a cape. Long sleeves are a plus for San Francisco fall weather and the cape adds a nice flair. Taking advantage of every opportunity I have to rock open-toe shoes before I retire them for the year, I styled this number with taupe fringe sandals and a matching purse. I polished off the look with glitzy statement earrings and a red lip.

When I came across this bow back sweater at Ambiance, I knew just the right bottoms to pair with it, faux leather shorts! Think of this ensemble as the steamy version of a typical sweater and shorts outfit. Just like you would balance out a fitted bottom with a loose top, the same rule applies here. That is why I styled this slouchy sweater with a tailored short. Although a high-heel black leather bootie would have worked fine, I decided to take it up a notch with over-the-knee suede boots. It won’t be long before we are all living in leggings and boots, why not take advantage of bare legs while we can?!
