After a MAJOR closet clean out, I am officially on a “less is more” kick. But I am not talking about less rhinestones and glam, rather having less physical items taking up space. It feels SO good actually being able to see all the items hanging and going “shopping” in my own closet! Speaking of shopping, several gently used items are available for sale on Poshmark – get ’em while you can! Without further adieu, below are the items on my November wish list. Stay classy in tweed. This iconic fabric looks good in every shape or form. I am loving the versatility of this suit (4)! Whether you’re in the office or socializing after 5 PM, you’ll have heads turnin’. If two pieces don’t suit your fancy (see what I did there?!), consider topping a tweed jacket (3) over your festive mini (1).

It’s the mooooost spar-kl-yyyy tiiiime of the year…! Dazzle during your holiday party in a sequin dress (9) or glitzy trousers (10). Consider pairing your sequins with statement jewelry (6) and pearl accessories. If this star embellished purse (5) doesn’t scream holiday style, I don’t know what does!

Consider pairing your not-so-basic top with paper bag shorts or ripped denim. Style Tip: leave the neutrals at the door and dabble in color – that goes for denim too! Finally, step up your accessory game with marble hair clips, statement bags, and glitzy sandals. An ensemble is never complete without matching jewelry and accents.

Wish List Wednesday: Spring Favorites

From neon dresses, statement sleeves, larger than life earrings, to bedazzled accessories, less is NOT more this Spring 2019 Season. It’s as though the fashion forecasters raided my closet: I’m a huge fan of all of the above! But staying relevant does not mean you have to break the bank. All the items featured in today’s roundup are under $100. You’re welcome.

BOLD styles are trending. Dive right in…or not! Consider incorporating pops of color into your Springtime ensemble with a pair of shoes (13) or a playful purse (2). These slides are available in a variety of colors and are suitable with skirts and dresses or pants and shorts. If highlighter hues do not suit your fancy, give the hair clip (3) fad a go. These pretty little things have the ability to squash a “bad hair day,” and they are the least expensive item on this list. Score!

Colored Denim: The “It” Trend for Spring

It is no secret that color is in for 2019. Not that I ever followed the “rules,” but color is officially acceptable for year round wear. This was very evident on the runways at New York Fashion Week and all of the style on the streets. I guess 2019 is my year! But one of my very favorite trends is the colored denim craze!

Matching jean jackets, pants, and skirts...yeah that is a thing now, and I am here for it. I have always been a fan of a monochrome ensemble. They are easy to put together and effortlessly chic. But you don’t have to style your colored denim in sets. It’s poppy enough on its own. Are you ready to try it? Allow me to provide you with some outfit inspiration.

Pink jeans…where have they been my whole life?! Regardless, they’re here now and I cannot get enough of ’em. Featuring a high rise waist and straight crop leg, these pretty little things will get you through the spring and summer months! I often gravitate towards jeans with stretch. I have a petite shapely frame, and fabric that “gives” is more comfortable on the curves. Somehow AGOLDE figured out how to produce 100% cotton colored denim that is not suffocating. These jeans move with you and accent your figure in all of the right places. Not a fan of pink? Consider adding this lemon pair of AGOLDE jeans to your spring/summer attire.

Embellish your Outfit with a Shearling Vest!

As November quickly approaches, I am using the time wisely to stock up on winter essentials. In San Francisco you can never own enough vests. They are great for layering and/or accessorizing your look. You already know I am not satisfied in just a top and jeans (what is my problem?!). Today we feature a shearling vest and I can assure you it is the coziest item you will ever own.

For top and jean haters like myself, vests are great alternatives to scarves! I’m always hot and would rather not suffocate with baggage around my neck! I like to think of vests as jewelry. They are very stylish embellishments when wearing a necklace is simply not an option.

Vest or no vest, I never leave the house without a statement earring (duh!). I literally feel naked without ‘em. Luckily the Sequin Drop Earrings by Baublebar just so happened to match my silk top perfectly. These retro stunners will effortlessly add a touch of glam to your ensemble. One can never look too glamorous in a garden of hydrangeas…am I right?!

Buy the Designer Handbag Sans the Buyer’s Remorse

When you buy a designer handbag, you’re making an investment. And even though it’s an article of clothing, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Just like every other decision you are faced with there are opportunity costs. Using these guidelines, not only will you be confident with your choice, but you’ll decrease the cost per wear.

First or Tenth

Is this your first designer handbag or your tenth? If it’s your first, consider choosing a classic color. Do you wear black or brown more often? This is the litmus test I recommend using for all wardrobe staples! Now that you have the color picked out, it’s time to think about the hardware. Do you wear silver or gold jewelry? Many high end brands craft leather goods with either/or. Consider this your warning: Do not settle. If you look hard enough you’ll find the perfect black bag with gold hardware vice versa.

Size matters

Once you have a “vision” it’s time to consider the size. Without question, in the handbag industry, the bigger the bag the higher the price tag. What type of lifestyle do you live? Are you often on the go? Do you have the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus? For the lady on the go, a medium to large purse is ideal. Maybe you don’t have time to go home in between work and play. A sizable purse gives you enough room for a change of shoes and small laptop. Don’t be afraid to do a “fit test” in store.

Everyday or special occasion?

How often do you plan on wearing the purse? Till “the wheels fall off” or for special occasions only? For an everyday purse, I highly recommend material that is easy to clean. Think smooth or patent leather – something you can wipe down with a wet wipe. Reserve the suede and velvet for special occasion. Tip: Store your designer handbag in the included pouch to increase its resell value.

Love Your Designer Handbag

The black shoulder bag (two pictures up) was my first Gucci purchase. This item is approaching five years old and its retirement is no where in sight. The medium size has suited me well over the years. Not only is it a show stopping “everyday” purse, but it doubles as a reliable to and fro handbag. I can easily stuff it with my cosmetics bag, iPad, and GG’s supplies. Fast forward to 2017 and my latest investment piece is this yellow statement bag. I realize yellow may not be everyone’s favorite color, but I am admittedly the most impractical person I know! So remember, consider the color, the size, and the longevity before pulling the trigger. This is the criteria I use when I splurge on a designer item and you all know how often I re-wear ’em all!

Orange Bell Bottoms: Why You Should Own a Pair

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may recognize this ensemble. Reason number 8,589 to follow me on social media ;)! This was my “outfit of the day” two Fridays ago during New York Fashion Week. In case you were wondering how to get people’s attention, I figured it out. Wear orange bell bottoms! Here is why you will love owning a pair of pants like this.

Legs for Days

High waisted pants that taper at the knee will instantly elongate the appearance of your legs. This is a plus for short legged folk like me. I am only 5 feet tall but appear longer and leaner in these party pants. We always want what we can’t have. You know what they say, “fake it till you make it.”

Daytime or Nighttime Wear

Statement pants are very versatile garments in actuality. In other words, they are suitable for day or nighttime wear. These pants carried me through the whole day with a few networking and runways shows here and there. Truth be told, it is all about the top.

All Eyes on Deck

It is nice to feel appreciated. This applies to all aspects of life, including what we choose to wear. In the right instances, it is fun/good to be noticed. Maybe you are celebrating a promotion, or a birthday. With killer pants like these, you will not go unnoticed. At New York Fashion Week, the funkier the better!
