The “bum-sculping” pants by Sweaty Betty are the real deal. They suck you in in all the right places while simultaneously accentuating your curves. The material is thick and provides excellent rear coverage…like I wear them with crop tops and am not-self-conscious of dimpling or the appearance of cellulite. I’m obsessed with the 7/8 length (they fit me like regular ankle length leggings) as well as the handy side pocket perfect for your phone! But don’t take my word for it, get a pair here and take them for a test drive at your barre or F45 class. Fit: True to size – as seen in XS 7/8 length.

Alo Yoga

How is this my first pair of All Yoga leggings?! When I slip into these buttery things I forget I am even wearing ’em. They feel like an extension of your body. Anyway, I have been living in this blush pair and I’m V impressed with the coverage. Have you ever tried on a pair of light colored leggings only to grimace at the sight of rippling skin? I have…but NOT with this pair. Hallelujah! I wear these hot pant to the Bar Method, on the plane, and out to lunch. The high-waist airlift leggings double as chic loungewear. Fit: True to size – as seen in XS 7/8 length.

CRZ Yoga

Whoa, whoa, WHOA! I cannot believe the quality and comfort of these Amazon “knock off” workout pants. I had my doubts but the 4.5 star reviews convinced me to give them a try. For nearly a QUARTER of the cost of the others, these leggings are suitable for all of your sporty activities. I’ve worn them at the barre, for a jog, and to the sweatiest class of my life, F45. They passed the test with flying colors. I can assure you you will not find a more versatile, attractive, and comfortable set for only $45. Fit: True to size – as seen in XS 7/8 length.

White is Not Forgiving

Opposite of black, white is considered an enlarging color, and it does not leave much to the imagination. That is why it is so hard to find a flattering pair of white jeans..let alone skin tight yoga pants! If you commit to white activewear, you need to let go of the insecurities. I workout at The Bar Method and there are floor to ceiling mirrors in the classroom. Initially I thought I would critique my imperfections, until I realized its so much easier to embrace them! We are all there to better ourselves. #AmIRight?!

Styling White Yoga Pants Can be Tricky

Black activewear goes with everything. Any print, any hue, and any tone. White workout clothes look the best with muted tones or other white workout clothes! Which brings up another point: if your exercise routine involves floor exercises and sharing of equipment your workout attire may not be white for long! This is not a problem at TBM. Consider dressing your new getup with pastel accents and white soled sneakers. Sounds funny, but it just looks wrong with black sole sneaks. Shop my blush Nikes here.

Meshblock Pocket Pura Tight

The Meshblock Pocket Pura Tight by Athleta is the pant I am wearing in this post. The high waist band sucks you in, while the compression fabric smooths you out. Two essentials you should look for in white yoga pants. Oh, and they are not see-through…that would be awkward! The fabric is opaque. I often gravitate towards capri length activewear because ankle length is always too long. Athleta pants however, are 7/8 length, so they are likely to fit like ankle pants if you are short like me. Hooray!

They just “Get It”

Although I just turned 30, but my joints feel older. Home girl CANNOT exercise on hardwood floors. Just NO. Some barre classes cover the floor with a pretty new carpet, minus one thing: the padding. Ladies and gents, the carpet at the Bar Method is “hella” padded. And for this, I’ll be forever grateful. For those of you with tender wrists, or delicate knees, I can assure you that you’ll be comfortable throughout pushups and while kneeling at the bar. Lastly, feet are weird. Socks that cover your entire foot are required to take class. Thanks for nipping that in the butt!

Targets All Muscle Groups

I like to say that my muscles are always confused. Just when I think I’m used to the exercise sequence, I’m sore the next day. Simply put, one does not plateau from The Bar Method. Rather, the more familiar you become with the exercises, the better your form gets. I wish I had a picture of old me attempting fold-over (five years ago) versus now. Or maybe I don’t! Regardless, it is precisely the reason students of TBM all have that coveted “bar bod.” Strong arms, rock hard abs, and a lifted seat – check!

Instructors are Rigorously Trained

The instructors have to earn the right to teach. There is no such thing as a “weekend certification” program at The Bar Method. It is only after three to six months of anatomy tests, hands-on adjustments, evaluations, etc., that they are given the green light to lead their first class. It sounds strict but it’s all for the clients’ benefit. And whether or not there is a section in the official Bar Method instructor handbook, they all have a special ability to learn names freakishly fast. No joke, five minutes into the workout and they know the class roster up and down. This personalized instruction guarantees a safe and effective workout at an individual basis.

Strengthens Mind-body Connection

I am not a very spiritual person. I have never experienced a moment of “zen.” I’m way too hyper to meditate, but The Bar Method has singlehandedly strengthened my mind-body connection. It is here where I retreat to, to let go of all the stressors and workday chaos. In fact, some of my most inspiring blog posts have “come to me” right in the middle of my workout. If that is not a good enough reason to take class every day, I don’t know what is!

Alleviates Joint Pain

Five years ago I was relying too much on Aleve. My knee pain was consistently bad. I guess that’s what happens when you play field hockey competitively most of your life. Aside from the health repercussions of taking NSAIDs regularly, I was fed up with feeling physically restricted. After several months of attending class three to five times per week, my knee pain SIGNIFICANTLY improved. Fast forward to 2018 and my knee pain is 90% better. My insurance company should probably be reimbursing me for my monthly membership fee! It is no secret that TBM exercises work to strengthen the muscles around your joints, and I’m a walking testimonial as to how advantageous this can be.

If you’re new to my blog, allow me to explain my connection to Louisiana. I am a proud LSU Alum – Geaux Tigers! But I got more than my education down on the bayou…I got the southern gentleman of my dreams to marry me! Although presently a California girl, I still have an appreciation for the Louisianian culture. New Orleans Yoga Apparel (NOYA) is singlehandedly spreading New Orleans flair across the country and I’m lovin’ it! The Fit

Now let’s talk about the fit. The older I get the higher I like my pants to rise! Ha! Luckily for me these suckers feature a foldable high rise waistband. I don’t bother rolling it down because I like when my pants make my wanna be abs feel tighter! As far as the fabric, it stretches with you. This is something I do not take for granted. Whether I am stretching at the bar or jogging to and fro these pants stay in place. They are lightweight yet they provide ample coverage. They have passed the peek-a-boo stretch test – they are NOT see-through! I am wearing the full length leggings, but rolled them up to accommodate my shorter than average sticks. I cannot speak for you, but new workout clothes motivate me to move! I am dying to dabble in the mesh pant trend and now that these bottoms are on sale, it’s quite tempting to pull the trigger. On the other hand, can we talk about these Nike sneakers?! Nike has forever been my go-to brand for athletic shoes. I am crazy about this pair because they double as workout shoes and athleisure wear.

Blush is the new beige. No really though, it has been around for the past couple of years and it is not going anywhere. I love it because you can wear it as a neutral or a statement piece. I am diggin’ this mesh long sleeve top. But can we talk about the white Alo Yoga pants?! I used to think there was no way in hell that I’d workout in white but as long as the top is the right length I am willing to reconsider. There is no better time to step out of the box than during a sale!

Leather leggings…need I say more?! During the winter I pretty much live in faux leather leggings but I have yet to workout in a pair. Well, well, well…these stunners by Koral are sleek and chic! And if you wear them to and fro, I am confident no one will notice. This is the kind of versatility worth investing in! What trend in activewear are you curious to try?!

The “Charleston” capri, as seen in these photos, has unfortunately sold out, but don’t fret because all of the available patterns are just as fit for a fitness loving fashionista! Prepare for the compliments to roll in. Whenever I wear the “Kayley Stripe” capri, my husband laughs in disbelief at all of the conversations they start. I have no doubt that each and every K-Deer style will trigger the same response. Whether you’re a barre addict, serious spinner, or crossfit queen, these pants will motivate you to get your groove on even on the days you’re not really feelin’ it.

I rocked my crops with my go-to racerback, the “Workout Racerback” by Lucy. Available in a variety of patterns and colors, these tops are made out of a moisture-wicking fabric that will leave you feeling comfortable and cool during your workout. I polished off the look with black Nike sneakers. Now I need to make some decisions, Bar Method or SoulCycle next week at New York Fashion Week?!

A few months ago I was introduced to the online store Carbon38, at a blogger event hosted by Nichole Ciotti of the Vanilla Extract blog. It is here where “fit chicks” dreams come true! Carbon38 fabulously showcases all of your favorite activewear brands and styles in one place. Whether you shop by trend, sport, or designer you will not leave this site with an empty “gym bag.”

Inspired by a Latin American textile, the Serape Performance Capris by Terez are dreamy. Constructed out of a polyester and spandex blend, these crop pants are perfect for the barre, spin, bootcamp, and everything in between. The elasticized waist features a slimming waistband while the compression fit smooths your imperfections. More importantly, these capris pass the slouch test. There is nothing more distracting than having to adjust your garb during an intense workout. I am happy to report these capris do not slouch, bag, or move when in motion.

With a lot going on below the waist, I styled this exercise look with a solid tank. The “Workout Racerback,” by Lucy, has become my favorite top – this is a significant development as I was sold on the Cool Racerback for the last several years. I currently own black and blue, but hope to add a couple more into my Bar Method uniform rotation. I love the flat seams and long shirt tail – extra back coverage is essential when wearing hot pants like these. Finally, I gave my new Nike sneakers a test run. Hopefully I did not blind any tourists!

Along with water, shelter, and food, exercise is another essential item in my life. I typically spend an hour per day at “the bar” getting my daily dose of exercise induced endorphins. With the spring season, however, comes 5K and 10K road races and my hubby has us lined up for one at the end of the month. I’ll be swapping out the barre clothes for jogging clothes at least twice a week, beginning with this MinkPink tracksuit.

I was immediately attracted to the print as it reminded me of a gorgeous Free People dress. The top is great because it provides enough support for a jog minus the suffocating effect. I am very picky when it comes to sports bras and normally only feel comfortable in the Free To Be bra. The length is slightly longer than a standard sports bra, providing a little bit more coverage (score!). On a brisk day, I plan to wear a mesh shirt, like this, over the bra top for added warmth.

The pants are my favorite 3/4 length leggings, hitting just below the knee. Rock these moisture wicking pants on the running trail, spin class, or at bootcamp. When you’re in between home and the studio, conveniently store your goods in the zip back pocket. I styled this ensemble with black Nike sneakers and an iridescent S’well water bottle (last mentioned here). If you have yet to purchase a pair of trendy sneaks, it is not too late to ride the “athleisure” style bandwagon.
