A sharp black on black ensemble seemed very fitting for this quirky film, so I paired a lace bodysuit with distressed jeans. Keeping the edgy vibe going, I accessorized with a floppy hat, peep-toe booties, and an ombre box clutch. This outfit would have been far less interesting without the finishing touch, the cape! The black and olive combination created just enough contrast and as a result, the lace sleeves really popped.

I had the hardest time finding an ivory or white crop top that would do this skirt justice. When you are working with a gorgeous statement piece like this wrap skirt, you cannot just throw on a cotton-knit sleeveless shirt and call it a day. While it took a little bit of digging, when I came across the Nyella Banded Bra Top at BCBG, I knew it was a winner! I love how clean cut it looks yet the banded crisscross front and the cutout lower back add just enough edge. Although feeling a bit bashful with an exposed midsection, I had to get over it. You can still look elegant in a crop top – it just has to be paired with the right bottom. According to the KK and GG handbook, as long as your bellybutton is concealed, and your lower half is suited up in a lady-like garment, you have nothing to worry about. In this case, the ultra feminine silhouette of the skirt and the charming periwinkle hue balanced out the fit of the top. Anyway, I accessorized the look with a pink and blue necklace, pearl rings, and blue lace-up shoes. I polished off the ensemble with a gold box clutch and a bright pink lip.

When the higher ups at Lazy Bear (or any other trendy establishment) tell you, “ most guests tend to dress smart casual or slightly dressy,” go all out! There are never enough occasions to get fancy, so why not seize the opportunity?!

On that note, I decided to debut my Alice and Olivia  dress to Lazy Bear last week. The black shimmery thread, intertwined with olive tweed fabric, make this dress suitable for a holiday party, a cocktail hour, or a dinner.  With the right accessories, it can go from edgy to glamorous in a matter of seconds. I love a piece like this because if you re-wear it a few times during the season, you can change it up enough that it won’t look like you’re in the same outfit. Anyway, I went for the edgy look and styled the dress with black-toned jewelry a fabulous BCBG ombre faux-crystal clutch, black peep toe booties and a bright pink lip. The weather in San Francisco is rather mild, so I could get away with bare legs and arms, but if the temperature had dropped, I would of thrown on a cropped black jacket (a longer hem may not work well with the bubble silhouette), some sheer black tights, and closed toe booties for a chic but toasty look.

If your boyfriend or spouse is having a hard time coming up with a “Casual Smart” ensemble, have him refer back to this look.

When planning a special occasion outfit, I always recommend starting with one essential piece, and then designing the outfit around that one piece. That one piece could be a dramatic pair of earrings, a statement necklace, a blinged out top or jacket, or a pair of fancy bottoms. Well, since fashion is cyclical and sequins have been “in” for the last decade, I am starting out my New Year’s Eve wishlist with a pair of rose gold Dena Snake-Sequined Leggings (pictured to the left)! These “hot pants” will definitely get heads turning.

Now on to the top. I chose the Nalia Short-Sleeve Blocked Top (pictured to the right) in “Bare Pink.” Since the leggings are the essential element to this outfit, I chose a plain top to balance out all that is going on below the waistline. Not only does this top tone down the sequins just a tad, but it’s an ideal top to wear with leggings. Its boxy silhouette compliments the skin-tight leggings, while the high-low hemline provides just enough back coverage. Whether or not you decide to add another layer, throw on your go to pair of nude pumps and Voila! You’re ready to ring in the new year in style.

I decided to complete this look with BCBGMaxazria’s Upas Cape (pictured to the left) because winter white is one of my favorite hues. Not only does it match everything, but just when you’re tired of your grays, blacks, and browns, incorporating winter white to your cold-weather ensemble will undoubtedly jazz up your look. Holding true to its name, this sleeveless cape simply covers your shoulders while giving off the appearance of a classic blazer.

When I set out to find the “perfect pump” I decided to go with patent leather for a couple of reasons. Patent leather is timeless, it is easier to care for than leather or suede, and you can easily dress it up or down.  After trying on almost every black pump in DSW, I finally found the right shoe for me. Meet the BCBG Paris Jaze Pump!

After wearing these beauts for more than one occasion, here is my honest feedback. On a scale of 1-5 (1 being the least tolerable, 5 being the most tolerable – lets get real, no high heels are actually comfortable!), these are undoubtedly a 5. Fitting true-to-size with just enough padding built into the soles, the balls of my feet never became sore. Plus, the moderate heel height left my arches feeling a-ok. Finally, because the toes do not come to a complete point, there is some room for your toes to breathe.

Although shoe shopping should be nothing but fun, it can be rather frustrating when you have small, narrow feet! So, when the shoe fits, sometimes I buy more than one pair. This is exactly what I did when I found the BCBG Paris Jaze Pumps. Like I said above, a solid paid of black and neutral pumps is non-negotiable so why not pick up a nude pair as well?! And did I mention they are only $59.95? I was so excited that I did not have to break the bank for a pair of basics like these.
