Begin with a cami or bandeau. I chose the latter because the fall months are actually San Francisco’s hottest, but if you’re in a cooler climate, go with a full length camisole. White or nude would work underneath a crochet shirt. You could also top your shirt with a longline or fur vest for added warmth. Sleeveless outerwear will take your ensemble from June to October in a matter of seconds!

If it were July or August, I would be pairing this shirt with white denim. But when white is out of the question, traditional blue is always a safe alternative! I dressed this top with bell bottoms to play off of the 70’s vibes already going on. As if the wide legs and bell sleeves were not enough, I polished off the ensemble with studded platform clogs. A few months ago I purchased this awesome fringe shrug from Nasty Gal. I had hoped for it to go over a chevron shirt, but that outfit did not turn out as planned. After the first failed attempt, I tried it with a denim skirt, a corduroy skirt, as well as a black on black ensemble. Still no luck, so it hung pretty and unworn in my closet for the last three months. It was not until I brought home these retro clogs that I decided to give the shrug another try. FINALLY it worked! Moral of the story: if you are going for a particular vibe, dive in head first. I was being too conservative when I originally styled this statement piece. I did not want to look too costume-y. Ironically, it looked best not only with a headpiece and clogs, but with flare jeans – I think we can all agree that bell bottoms epitomize 1970’s fashions. Great news fashionista, if you are ready to step out in funky 70’s garb, this shrug is now available in ivory, and I like it better than the one I own.

Without a plan in sight, I had no idea how I would style this jacket at the time of purchase. Luckily, I did know that it was too good to pass up, or it would have haunted me in my outfit dreams! Anyway, when you live in a moderate climate like San Francisco, you can never own enough lightweight jackets. I rarely leave the house without something to wrap up in once the sun goes down. Being a rather low key weekend, I paired this jacket with flare jeans. Although I debated over winter white, or traditional blue, I stuck with a classic hue hoping to accentuate the jacket’s tribal print. To pull out the golden tones I accessorized with a mustard purse and gold jewelry.
 

Make it a goal to shop with intention in 2016. You’ll quickly find yourself spending less money on more pieces you truly love and/or need.

I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Just Black, by Just USA, at Current Clothing. This line of jeans offers extraordinarily comfortable fashions at a very affordable price point. When I came across these high-waisted bell bottoms, there was no looking back! Only 5 feet tall, I take advantage of any “hack” that I can for an elongated appearance. These pants, my friends, will do just that! I paired these bottoms with a fitted off the shoulder top for a polished look and accessorized with a fringe statement necklace and flash lens sunglasses. If this doesn’t demonstrate the importance of accessorizing, I don’t know what does! Undoubtedly, the necklace makes the outfit.

Just like I mentioned in the post “Bell Bottoms: They’re baaack!,” if you haven’t yet noticed these retro bottoms making a comeback, consider this your warning! When I spotted the I’d Suede So Taupe Flare Pants on the lulu*s website, I was ecstatic. I think it is pretty obvious by now that I cannot resist a comfortable pair of pants, but a wide-leg suede bell bottom takes my pant obsession to a whole new level. These pull-on hot pants are constructed out of spandex microfiber suede. As comfortable and lightweight as they come, if you enjoy rocking a hip hugging silhouette, these my friends, are for you. I stuck to basics, and tucked in a surplice black top with these flare leg bottoms, and made it interesting with a braided metallic belt. I accessorized further with black tassel earrings and wedge sandals. Depending on your height (I am only 5 feet tall), you may be able to get away with flats.

Lovin’ the $39 price tag, I might have to snag the black pair while supplies last!
