When it comes to workout pants, I prefer the capri length. For hot-natured folks like myself, full length leggings can become uncomfortably warm. The JOJO Capris hit mid calf (keep in mind I am 5 feet tall), making them a great option for barre class, spin, and everything in between. Versatility in workout attire is key, as it is a superfluous purchase.

Crafted out of a fine knit nylon blend, this pretty little thing can go casual or dressy thanks to its decorative sheen. We had tickets to an afternoon concert in Berkeley, so I went the casual route and paired this pink striped sweater with distressed denim. Who would have thought that intentional tears in your jeans would be considered a fashion statement?! Aside from being very stylish, swapping out regular denim for distressed denim is one of the easiest ways to add flair to your ensemble. Anyway, although flats would have been totally appropriate, skinny jeans on a curvy five foot frame are not very forgiving. I gave myself a boost with platform clogs and accessorized with blue flash lens sunglasses and a wad of bubble gum!

About the platform clogs…I have had many people ask me if I can actually walk in these shoes. The answer is YES. In fact, I routinely walk the streets of San Francisco in these kicks, but suggest a practice spin before tackling the hills. Although five inches high, the platform construction provides support along the entire length of your foot – alleviating soreness in the balls of your feet (hallelluyah). Aside from the comfort level, they are only $35 at Forever 21 and also available in black suede. Keep calm and clog on!

This look is what my husband (master photographer) and I refer to as my “flight attendant outfit.” While it is highly unlikely that an airline executive is readying this, I’m here to tell you that this coat dress should be included in your uniform redesign plans. No really, your crew would be the best dressed in the friendly skies. Ok, ok, back to business! Being a big fan of classic black and white, I styled a white button down blouse underneath this coat. To create a little bit of drama, I incorporated fishnet stockings and black flash lens sunglasses.

Believe me when I say, horizontal stripes do not have to be boring…it will just require you to do a little bit of thinking outside of the box! For example, during my initial outfit planning session with this striped top, from PinkBlush Boutique, black denim seemed like an obvious match. While I always planned on mixing prints by incorporating a leopard print scarf, when I tried on the top with black pants, one word came to mind: MEH. Considering it is my job to provide y’all with quality “fashspiration,” outfit option number one was not going to cut it. Despite the casual nature of the top, it became quite obvious to pair it with black over-the-knee boots instead. Voila! Just like that the top went from good to great.

Playing off of the suede pockets, I looped a camel and black infinity scarf around my neck to tie in all of the neutral hues. I accessorized further toping the shirt with a fringe cardigan vest, tassel earrings, and oversized black mirrored sunnies. Completing the look with some drama, I threw my hair in a sock-bun and painted on a bright red lip. Now that is what I call horizontal stripes with a twist! Food items are trending. If you’re an Instagram junkie, then I am sure you’ve noticed fashionistas decked out in cute donut t-shirts, pineapple graphic tees, fruit-shaped purses, etc. So when I came across this popsicle printed top, for a whopping $15.90 at Forever 21, it was too good to pass up. Playing along with the whole patriotic color scheme, I paired this top with royal blue scalloped shorts – although your go-to denim would work too. I tucked the top in for a tidier look as the shirt is boxy in nature. I accessorized with a vibrant necklace, blue Ray-Ban flash lenses, and red studded pumps.

No popsicles were wasted in the making of this post…

Typically, pilot Ray-Bans come in two sizes – the Aviator Classic, and the Aviator small. This is the case for the blue and green mirrored glasses you’ve probably noticed fashionistas around the city sporting, but they have not yet released a petite version in the purple and gold frames. Hopefully after the new year these gorgeous shades will be available in the smaller size…if not, I might just have to get used to the original style!
