Hi my name is Kelsey and I have a passion for fashion. Nothing shocking about that statement, right? But what is alarming is that I am wearing a: long, dark, dropped waist, gold pleated dress, and loving it! Never say never. Although slightly different from my assortment of spicy pink numbers, this item is surprisingly flattering and would make a great addition to your holiday party dress rotation!

When you’re doubtful of an item, but willing to give it a try, make it unapollogetically yours. What I mean is, add your signature flair! At first glance this dress appears too conservative to fit in with my funky collection. But the gold shimmer detail and pleats convinced me to buy it anyway. Have you ever shopped at Shein? Despite the questionable website design, it’s legit and so are the rock bottom prices. This dress was only $30 and part of the reason I was willing to step out of my comfort zone. Yeah, I have one of those too!

The addition of a rose gold belt and high fashion purse made all the difference here. I could have styled this dress with my black Gucci belt, but that was too predictable. Mixing metals is effortless and will instantly up your style game. Think about it – some of our most prized possessions and the accompanying accessories are now available in rose gold, silver, and yellow gold. The iPhone and Apple Watch to name a few. It is the “cool” thing to do! As we approach a new decade, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and wear something fun, fresh, and funky!

$39 Lace Slit Dress that is Fit for a Princess

A beautiful pink lace slit dress for less than $40. That is not a typo! Why spend a lot of money on holiday attire when you’re likely to retire it come the first of the year?! Here is how I take a look for less and make it look like a million bucks!

Timeless Accessories

Classic jewelry and accessories go a long way. Up your look for less with diamonds or pearls! Lately I have been toting this pearl purse with blush garments and it elevates the look effortlessly. No one would ever know it, but this exact bag is a designer dupe and about $500 cheaper than its counterpart. The same goes for the earrings. If you peruse Moda Operandi or Farfeth often, then you probably notice a close resemblance to Alessandra Rich jewelry. I am happy to report this pair is from Baublebar and under $50.

Wear it like you Own it

I think the heading speaks for itself. The greatest fashion accessory (in my opinion) is your confidence. If you walk out of the house in a dress you are unsure about, and constantly fidget with it, you will draw attention to it! But if you step out and OWN IT, no one will think twice. Rock your look for less like it’s from Neiman Marcus! Speaking of lavish items, do you recognize the backdrop in these photos?! Believe it or not, this beautiful Pacific Heights home was the High School in the Walt Disney movie The Princess Diaries!

Cold Weather Holiday Attire: Emerald Velvet Top

In California, you can get away with wearing a dress all year round. But it’s not 60 degrees and sunny everywhere else during the month of December. The North East can be bone chilling during the winter and that is where I am jet setting off to later this week. But even if the weather does not cooperate, the fashion show must go on! Today it is my attempt to teach you how to style your holiday attire for the cold weather. Let’s begin with this emerald velvet top.

Velvet

First things first: gravitate towards toasty fabrics. What I mean is, save the cutout garments for the spring, and dress in corduroy, wool, or velvet instead. These materials will act as powerful insulators against the chill. This emerald velvet top, for instance, is perfect for underneath a chunky coat. If this beaut doesn’t scream “holiday,” I do not know what does!

Faux Fux

Faux fur is a glamorous adornment during the cold weather months. But not only does it look great, it is very functional. Consider incorporating faux fur accessories into your holiday ensemble. With the addition of these fur lined gloves and imitation “shapka” hat, this look can go from SF to CT in a matter of seconds. It’s already in my suitcase!

Boots

Pumps are my favorite, but boots are the warmest. And in my experience (I grew up in the North East), when your head and your feet are warm, the rest of your body is cozy. I highly recommend working over the knee boots into your festive looks. The ultra high shaft will shield your legs from the cold air. Just remember to protect them with weather proof spray. The snow, and salty roads can do a lot of damage to your kicks.

Don’t get me wrong. I love sequins. Honestly, I love all things that sparkle! But before you grab the sequin dress, consider sequin shoes instead. Glitzy shoes have the same effect yet they are unexpected. But fancy feet are not for everyone. Work the sequins in via a purse or earrings instead!

When has a suit ever been unacceptable?! NEVER…knock ’em dead at the holiday party in this metallic pants suit. Pair it with a black cami and killer earrings, or glitter sandals and a low bun. It is all about balance when you style statement pieces.

The fit and flare silhouette it is flattering for every body type and this glamorous skirt is literally #goals. It would look stunning with a dainty sandal and crop top. But for a reserved look, pair it with a black top and pumps instead.

Embellished jeans are IN – plain denim is OUT. Step up your style game during the holidays with pearl adorned denim. Dress your jeans with winter white and a statement earrings. Now this is what I refer to as simply chic!

Two-Piece Pants Suit for Day or Nighttime Wear

Black on black is a holiday-friendly dress combination. It is simply chic and appropriate both in and out of the office. Add some glitter here, or some sparkle there, and just like that you’re party ready. Read on to find out how I styled this two-piece pants suit for day and nighttime wear.

If you were “blessed” with a petite frame, palazzo pants will do you wonders. They have the same affect as stilts! I never pass up a well fitting pair. For a day at the office, I paired them with the crop top from yesterday’s post, and topped it with a short cape blazer. Fast forward to the weekend…

We were invited to a Great Gatsby themed housewarming party. While it would have been the appropriate time to break out the fringe and pearls, I just wasn’t feelin’ it. A cold front moved through the Bay Area and a dress was out of the question. Thanks to Marina William’s Etsy shop, I was able to get another use out of this two-piece pants suit!

What is warm, fuzzy, and perfect over your holiday attire?! If the title of this post didn’t totally give it away, I’m referring to a sherpa jacket! The snuggle is real…

With the holiday season comes many festive occasions. Some casual, some dressy and some in between. With obligatory sequined ensembles already in the line up, all that is left to plan are those in between. Target never fails to offer a wonderful assortment of chic designs at very affordable prices. This printed sweater dress, by Xhilaration, is great for a weekend brunch! The fit and flare silhouette is ultra flattering, while the mini length is ideal for over the knee boots. Wear it solo or pair it with a sherpa jacket! This ivory one was only $39 and is truly the coziest piece of outerwear in my closet. Although the dress and jacket are a dynamic duo, I took the look to the next level with pearl jewelry and a fuschia hat. It is hard to resist a pop of color.
