]]> I know I said a couple of months ago that the yellow and white pineapple kimono was the last of my Lilly Pulitzer for Target finds, but it would be a sin for me not to showcase this gorgeous blue and white dress while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas. So here it is, for real this time, the last item in my Lilly for Target collection, the Sea Urchin for You maxi dress.

 

This beaut is elegant enough that is it is suitable for many occasions. You could easily pair it with some dainty high heels for a cocktail evening on the town or pair it with some white or gold flats for a casual yet very fashionable happy hour. Whenever I rock a maxi dress though, I go straight for the heels (surprise surprise). But when you’re only five feet tall, a maxi dress has a swallowing effect unless you give yourself a boost! #shortpeopleproblems

I chose this dress for a romantic dinner overlooking the ocean. There’s no better time to wear a dress covered in sea urchins, sand dollars, and sea stars than when you’re on a beach trip. To avoid the potato sack look, I fasted a skinny chartreuse belt around my waist – my fav fashion hack. I accessorized lightly with a white and gold clutch, laser cut sandals and white statement earrings. If you haven’t noticed already, the top knot is my go-to vacation hairstyle and it’s a great way to show off some ear bling! Shop a variety of Lilly Pulitzer maxi dresses here.

 

In case you were wondering, dinner overlooking the water at Cocina Del Mar at Hotel Esperanza was exquisite! This goes for the service and the food. I highly recommend this four course dinner for a special occasion during your next getaway to Cabo. A special thanks to Chef Cerda for preparing this delicious off the menu steak with chimichuri and mashed potatoes.

]]> Kimonos are one of my favorite articles of clothing, so when I came across this pineapple printed one, in the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection, I had to have it! Kimonos are great because they double as a swimsuit coverup and a fun accent piece. There are many ways to style a kimono. If it wasn’t for the extra coverage provided by the layering piece, I wouldn’t feel comfortable stepping out in a crop top and painted on bandage skirt. Thanks to the kimono, it is a different story and it’s a win win – wear the outfit without feeling self-conscious. Anyway, I chose a white skirt to stick with the color scheme of the kimono, but chose a bright blue top to jazz things up a bit. To tie things together, I went with a bluish-gray and white statement necklace and matching ring. Finally, I polished off the look with a white and gold reptile clutch purse and my white laser cut sandals.

The Ponte Crop Top in “Boom Boom” is the perfect balance of flirty and fun. The bright green and white print is great for the spring and summer months. Wear this top with a high-waisted white skirt, and strappy white sandals, or go a different route and style this top with some white jeans. I chose a pair of white flare jeans, but it would also work with some straight leg trousers. I further adorned myself with a black and green necklace, a chunky bangle, and my plaid clutch wallet. Finally, I polished off the look with a contrasting bright pink shoe (surprise surprise!).

]]> The Lilly Pulitzer line for Target officially launched last Sunday…I wish I could say that it made its debut without a hitch. From the minute word hit the street of this exciting collaboration there has been quite a buzz. Anxiously awaiting to get my hands on these pretty prints (along with every other fashionista across the nation), here’s my experience in a nutshell.
 
April 18 11:55 pm PDT: After logging onto target.com from my iPhone and refreshing the home page a dozen times, the “Preview Collection” button turns to “Shop Now.” I hectically scroll down the list of products and find none of which were on my wish list…weird. 30 seconds later, I take a stab in the dark and add three random items to my cart, enter my billing and shipping information, hit “place order,” and a confirmation email shows up in my inbox at 12:03 am PDT.
 
Now after midnight early morning on launch day, I pull up target.com from my desktop computer. Finally most of the products appear and are ready for purchase. I start by adding the high-waisted bikini, matching coverup and the beach towel to my cart. All items were available in the correct size. Hooray! After adding one more item, I click “checkout.” Now that my info is saved, I simply hit “place order” and get the lovely message “server unavailable.” After checking @Target on Twitter, it confirmed my assumption. Due to the excitement of the big reveal the website crashed. As the waiting game continued I couldn’t help but amuse myself with the tweets of frustrated #LillyForTarget customers across the nation. Eventually the website worked up until the most important part…the checkout process. After trying multiple times and failing from different devices, I finally gave up around 1:30 am. While I was disappointed with my shopping experience, I felt fortunate to at least have three items from the collection.
 
Fast forward to Monday morning, April 20th, I receive an email from Target with subject “A shipment is coming your way soon.” Obviously I assume it is the order that I placed and received a confirmation for, but when I open it up, lo and behold it is for the bikini and beach towel! Apparently three of my failed orders went through after all. Now check out the “Nosie Posey” button down shirt styled below with high-waisted green shorts and my fav fruit-shaped purse!

Although I received a couple of duplicate items, it’s safe to say that these pieces were worth the trouble! For $24, this top’s quality and fit are more than adequate and the colors are as vibrant as true Lilly prints. Unfortunately this button down shirt is sold out, but I have linked to available Lilly Pulitzer items, so that you can imitate the outfit above.
