Do you follow me on Instagram?! If so, then you probably know about the shoe-drama that went down last weekend. A very fashionable “Insta-friend” spotted a Kelsey Kaplan-esque pair of Louboutin sandals and sent them to me via direct message. That was it – I HAD to have them. They perfectly exemplify my personality and style in the form of a shoe: bubbly, extroverted, and BOLD! The Jewish holiday Passover was concluding which marked the end of my cooking extravaganza! I had prepared and cooked 24 meals in eight days without using ingredients that rise. That is breakfast, lunch, and dinner without using: wheat, flour, barley, oats, legumes (beans and peanuts) pasta, rice, and corn (I bet you don’t realize how many food items contain cornstarch in them).

The Shoes aka the Passover Present

If you have not already guessed, I rewarded myself with the shoes and my kitchen is closed for the foreseeable future. #ScaredForLife. I am referring to this investment as my “Passover present.” Sort of like a “push present” minus the baby. Haha! I think this is a fair trade off. Anyway, the Faridaravie Christian Louboutin sandal are the most incredible shoes I have ever seen. The craftsmanship is outstanding and they match with any color in the rainbow – all of the vibrant ensembles in my closet. For today’s big debut I am wearing a high-low two-piece set with neon accents. If Superwoman had a fashion blog this is what her uniform would look like!

The Earrings

Speaking of bold neons, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Treasure Jewels. Your online destination for ear drama! People (I am specifically talking about those who like to dress up) often gripe about the fashion in San Francisco. This quirky town is infamously referred to as, “sweatshirt city.” There are a lot of folks walking around in their lululemon gear and sneakers. But we also live somewhere where the general populous is very health-conscious and active. I am ok with that! But what I appreciate even more is that when it comes to fashion, “anything goes.” Remember, this is also the city where a group of men ride their bikes and jog Bay to Breakers NAKED. I kid you not. A girl in a bright orange sequin dress is nothin’!

Last month when I spoke briefly with Avril Graham, Fashion and Beauty Editor of Harper’z Bazaar, she asked me what I thought about the fashion scene in San Francisco. I told her I liked it because it is easy to stand out! And you do not need a bright orange sequin dress to do it. When everyone else is dressed casually and you roll in wearing high heels and statement earrings, you will be noticed. I do not feel the same pressure to look a certain way as I do in NY or LA – thank goodness! When I first tried on this dress for Jonathan, he said I would need to save it for a gala or something. SURPRISE! At least he won’t loose sight of his dinner date.

Chartreuse is one of my all-time favorite hues. The total opposite of pink, I know. But it is one of those colors that you can get away with 365 days a year, even if you follow the rules ;). The gold undertones make it easy to pair with neutrals (blacks and whites) and colors too…if you’re extra like me. The only color I would not pair it with is orange. It would be too halloween-y.

This chartreuse cape dress is elegant and chic. Featuring a sweeping cape design and lovely sheen finish, if you want to go unnoticed, this little number is not for you. I paired it with rainbow accents, mostly because I wanted to show off my new Kendra Scott earrings! These stunners make a statement near or afar. One word: OBSESSED.

*Full Disclosure: I am an expert high heel wearer and my feet are on the narrow side.

Now let’s get real, Ugg slippers are comfortable. High heels and Ugg slippers do not have anything in common! The So Kate pump by Christian Louboutin is celebrated for its dainty design and criticized for its sky high (4.75 inch) stiletto heel. If you’re a high heel rookie, this style Louboutin is not what you should start off with. But for everyone else, mark my words: you can do it!

Regardless of the brand, always break in your high heels before the first wear. It’ll spare you physical and emotional pain later. Blisters and buyer’s remorse are not fun. Sounds crazy but whenever I buy a new pair of shoes, I wear them in the house for several hours or days before stepping foot outside. Picture this: me in my bathrobe and So Kates (hot!), emptying the dishwasher and vacuuming the carpet. Yep, it happened…all in an effort to break in my new kicks, and guess what, it worked! I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t easy, but I’d rather teach myself how to walk in the privacy of my own home than for everyone to see. Tip: Use New-Skin liquid bandage on pressure points to prevent blisters!

The So Kate pump is narrow. As a result, many retailers suggest sizing up in this shoe style. I bought the 36.5 and the 37 to err on the side of caution. But sure enough, I was stepping out of the 37s. Here’s the thing, leather stretches. Do your house chores in your So Kates and stick with your regular size. After a few wears they will mold to your foot. My biggest pet peeve in life is having to grip my toes in a pair of shoes. I’m so glad I kept my standard size because when my feet are cold, the 36.5 starts to get loose. Consider this your warning.

Now with regards to the approximate 5 inch heel… I give these shoes a four hour time limit. My feet have a medium arch and the arch on this shoe is very dramatic. I imagine they’d be more tolerable for someone with a high arch and an absolute no-no for flat footed sisters. It’s also important to note the fineness of the stiletto. If you have a history of balance issues or ankle injuries I would suggest a Louboutin with a thicker heel. The “Pigalle” is a good compromise. Maybe this stability “issue” is a disadvantage, but then again, these are special occasion shoes. I wouldn’t wear them for an all day affair anyway! But it is these design attributes that make the So Kate the sexiest heel on the market. Beauty is pain my friends.

P.S. Store your So Kates in the included dust bags to prolong their shelf life. Also, find a reputable cobbler near you and have him or her apply a clear shoe protectant to sole of your loubs. I recommend doing this before your first wear. But if you cannot wait (I’m guilty of this), use packing tape to shield the sole in the meantime.

I have become a big fan of matching separates. They are as polished as a one-piece, yet there is something so chic about them. Plus, you are essentially getting three looks in one – I think we all appreciate that. If you follow me on Instagram, then you might recognize this fab pink print. Boy am I glad you all encouraged me to buy both items! This might just be my all time favorite Valentine’s Day outfit.

Leave it to H&M to carry such a beautiful outfit at an even more beautiful price point. For less than $75, he won’t be able to keep his hands to himself – I guarantee it! These jacquard knit stunners feature a bubbly pink pattern, with a contrasting blue trim (yay for mixed prints!). Aside from the aesthetics, the fit is dreamy. Six course meal? No problem! Although we’ve all dressed in loose clothes just for that reason, there is no need to worry about it in this ensemble. The thick material and high waist will suck it all in.

Less is more when you are working with a statement piece. For that reason I styled this look simply with a matching metallic pink clutch, iridescent earrings, and nude pumps. This dress is a favorite for many reasons. A halter neck gets me every time and the keyhole detail is ultra feminine. The best feature, however, is the hip-hugging faux leather midi skirt. The longer length balances out the slim fit silhouette, and the gold zipper detail creates just enough oomph. If it wasn’t for the high slit, this dress would not be flattering on a petite frame. Midi skirts tend to “cut off” our legs at an undesirable spot, making them appear shorter than they actually are. The steamy slit helps us avoid this fashion faux pas! I styled this dress with gold accents – a box clutch, vintage Miriam Haskell earrings, and nude pumps.

Who doesn’t love a cozy sweater to curl up in on a crisp autumn day?! Especially when it is one that you can take from day to night. The poncho sweater, my friends, is a must-have item. Slip one of these on with a pair of leggings and boots for an effortlessly chic look, that happens to be just as comfortable as your pajamas! When you have a petite frame and you’re styling a shapeless garment, the more height the better – I didn’t want it to look like I was swimming in the thing!

I accessorized with a long tassel Kendra Scott necklace (thank you Rocksbox!), green bangles, and a taupe purse. Riding the pom-pom bandwagon, I attached a brown fluffy little thing to my handbag for a bit of flair. Yay or nay on the pom-pom fad?!
