Begin by identifying the focal point of the ensemble. In this case the chartreuse shirt is the main focus. After that, think complimentary colors (opposites on the color wheel) to help you choose a contrasting hue. Although chartreuse is not on the color wheel, yellow is, so I went with turquoise, a shade of blue.

Next, embellish the look with a bold print. Be sure to pick a pattern inclusive of both the focus color, and the complimentary color. I chose an infinity scarf to dress up the top, but a purse would have had a similar effect. Take it one step further with jewelry, like the turquoise earrings and ring pictured here.

Finally, incorporate neutral accents to ensure a polished look. In this instance I paired this top with gray jeans to avoid introducing yet another shade of blue into the mix. I followed suit by wearing simple nude pumps, and toting a tan purse.

As a natural sequin lover, when I came across these black hot pants, they were coming home with me. Although technically capri length, they fit me like cropped ankle length trousers…score! Featuring an exposed back zipper, pair these dazzlers with a crop top, or tuck in a traditional button down blouse. On this special occasion, I styled these pants with a white peplum button down shirt. Keep in mind, when you’re working with a statement piece, sometimes simplicity is key.

I accessorized this look with goodies straight out of this month’s Rocksbox (see promo below). The rhinestone necklace helped balance out my upper half, while the light pink Kendra Scott earrings added a sweet feminine touch. Incorporating blush back into the mix, I polished off the ensemble with my favorite metallic clutch by Urban Expressions.

While eager to experiment with a full maxi for quite some time now, finding the right one was rather challenging. The whole potato sack thing doesn’t look good on a five foot frame! I knew the skirt had to be structured, and fitted at the waist…not to mention the right length. When I came across the “Glam Stripes Cutout Maxi Skirt” by chic wish, I knew it was going to be the right fit. Not only was it all of the above, but the length was customizable and the skirt was constructed out of see-through fabric. A shorter lining underneath sheer garments is one of my favorite product features – it allows you to show off some leg even though you are covered. I truly believe this detail resolves “short people problems.”

If pink isn’t your thing, I am happy to report this piece is also available in red or black. With spring flings on my mind, I chose “peach.” This time around, I styled it with an ivory button-down top – but not your average button-down! This shirt features a sleeveless bodice, a cropped hemline, and a cutout back. Incorporating a fitted feminine blouse is an easy way to balance out the fullness below. I polished off the look with a pearl belt, nude pumps, and a metallic pink clutch. I’m already dreaming about the black skirt with an edgy black bodysuit for wear during the autumn/winter months…

Meet the “Bright Mind Chartreuse Lace Romper!” This spicy number is great for warm weather destinations and perfect for your after dinner affair. The lace back will keep you cool and the chartreuse color is killer – not to mention easy to match with. While you might be thinking, “I would never wear an open back romper,” hear me out! Easily pair a white, ivory, navy, or even magenta cropped blazer or cape with this piece for a more conservative look. The cropped detail is key because you do not want to cover up the pleats on the shorts. I went with a cape, the “Proper Education White Cropped Jacket” to be exact, that I am absolutely in love with. This gem is perfect for just about anything. I already demonstrated how to style it over a romper, but it would be adorable over a fitted dress, and your go-to jeans outfit. If you are on the petite side, midi skirts can be a little bit tricky. We are already blessed with short legs, so we tend to compensate by wearing garments that give off an elongated appearance (jumpsuits, high-waisted pants, “sky high” high heels, etc.). That is why it is very important to make sure your midi skirt hits at mid-calf…even if it means a trip to the tailor! Before styling the dress below, I had it shortened about 3.5 inches. Once you’ve arrived at the appropriate length, try pairing your midi with nude shoes – they do a great job lengthening your legs.

I highly recommend a fitted top when styling a full midi skirt. That is why I was drawn to the “Lead a Charmed Life Midi Dress.” Featuring a fitted bodice, spaghetti straps, and open back design, feel flirty and sassy while wearing this little number! To breakup all of the pink, I threw on a chunky pearl necklace, and polished off the look with my rose gold watch, an embellished leather bracelet, and my point-toe nude pumps. I definitely needed to use that leg lengthening trick mentioned above. Quantities are limited in this dress, so hop to it and shop this look below.

With all of the pink going on in the ensemble above, I couldn’t help but paint my eyelids with hues from Urban Decay’s Naked 3 pallet! I first styled the “I. Madeline Pearly Dewdrops Drop Light Peach Top” with dark boyfriend jeans. Wanting this look to be happy hour appropriate, I wore a pair of bedazzled chandelier earrings, a metallic clutch and woven heels. If you want to keep it casual, simply exchange the earrings for some gold studs, sling on your everyday purse and slip into your favorite flats. Leopard print would add a fun twist.

After the first run through, in boyfriend jeans, I decided this whole boho theme could go on further with some flare jeans. This time, I rocked a pair of statement earrings, the same metallic clutch and nude pumps. Like I said before, because this shirt is easy to match, it would look great with virtually any color denim, in skinny leg, bootcut, wide leg, you name it. I’m looking forward to the warm weekend weather so that I can try it out with some cut-offs and cognac boots. If it turns out good enough, I’ll snap a pic!
