Three in One

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. With these two pieces, you can take over the world. Ok, maybe I am being dramatic, but you can wear them three different ways – and for a fashionista, that is a big deal. Today I am modeling them together, but over the holidays, I wore them seperately. The sweater was perfect with this metallic skirt.

Reversible

Aside from the fact that you can wear the sweater top with or without the matching skirt, you can also reverse it! Today I am wearing the knot in the front. But it actually looks super fancy with the knot in the back. Think ripped denim and nude pumps for date night.

Affordable and Cute

Can you remember the last time you scored three looks for less than $50? I can’t! Maybe I need to get better at sale shopping. Anyway, if winter white is not for you, you’ll be happy to hear that this budget-friendly set is also available in black! Pair it with faux fur for a chic and cozy look. Happy Monday!

One statement piece is enough. With so much going on up top, keep things simple down below. Consider pairing your glitzy blazer with jeans or straight leg pants. Now I’m all about a pop of color. After all, I own a pair of bright pink boots! But rather than “popping” your sequin blazer with shoes, try a bold lip or small leather good instead. I chose a red lipstick, but rouge gloves would also do the trick. Happy 2018!

The colors

I already gave it away that burgundy (bordeaux) is my favorite autumn hue but in all honestly, I am a fan of them all. Particularly mustard and olive tones. I am starting to realize that my fav colors all have one thing in common: they’re named after food items. Ha! That is very fitting. Anyway, if it is too warm to layer up in sweaters and scarves, incorporate the quintessential fall color scheme into your looks with lightweight garments or accessories. Consider toting a cognac purse, rocking an olive floppy hat, or wearing merlot shoes.

The fabrics

Another way to dress for the fall while being mindful of the temperature is to mix in fall or winter fabrics. Today we feature burgundy faux leather shorts and suede boots. Both of these fabrics are considered cold weather materials. The same goes for velvet and corduroy. The black mesh top is suitable for wear all year round, but it is an airy balance between the leather and suede. Finally, take your autumn ensemble into the winter with black stockings and a fur bomber. And that’s how we do fall in San Francisco!

Decked out in Asos top to bottom, I paired this off the shoulder sweater with faux leather leggings (last seen here) and black over the knee boots. This combination is slowly but surely becoming one of my go-tos when I do not want to sacrifice style for comfort. It probably would have been a good idea to pack this ensemble for New York Fashion Week. They are predicting six to ten inches of snow tomorrow. Wish me luck! Good thing I traveled in my Hunter boots!

When you shop for an adult playsuit during the winter, look for sleeves. They don’t need to be full length, but at least 3/4 length is a good idea. During the spring, gravitate towards shorter sleeves and light weight fabrics. The summer months are the most conducive to “romp” around. As a result, the options are endless. Consider sleeveless, open-back, and colorful designs. Finally, during the fall, choose boot-friendly styles and go back to 3/4 length sleeves.

Today we feature a bell sleeve romper from Current Clothing. I will wear this little number all year round. Burgundy, a hybrid of red and brown, is a neutral in my book. Whether you pair it with black or brown accents, it looks fabulous. Thanks to the “cold front” (lame!) in San Francisco, I knew a fur vest would keep me warm. Bare legs were not an option, so I slipped into a pair of printed stockings and my over the knee boots (look for less here). Just like that this leg baring item transformed into a cool weather ensemble. This is the perfect Friday night outfit. We finally tried The Saratoga last weekend, and this is what I wore. If you live in the city, get there sooner than later but make a reservation first. The burger and parmesan fries will rock your world!

I am not exaggerating when I say I wear my “wet leggings” three times per week. They are so comfortable that it feels no different than lounging in my favorite workout clothes. Who wants to fuss around with a zipper and fly when you can pull ’em on instead?! It used to be that leggings were reserved for causal outfits. I’m here to tell you that the sheen makes all the difference. Whether you’re walking to a fro with an umbrella and rain boots, or you’re dolled up for a date, take my word for it; faux leather leggings are suitable for the occasion.

New York Fashion Week is officially three weeks away and it is going to be COLD. I plan to save room in my suitcase by committing to wearing these suckers at least twice. Let’s see how well my plan goes. Somehow I survived the blistering CT winters during my youth. Today, however, my tolerance for freezing temperatures is at an all-time low. Over the long weekend I dressed my leggings with a black turtleneck and a shredded gray sweater. I wanted to be comfortable and ready for happy hour. I was both, thanks to my shiny leggings and OTK boots. There is no better way to dress!

My wardrobe consists of statement pieces and more statement pieces. Throwing something on to “bop around” in can be quite a challenge. When I laid eyes on this ruffle sleeve cable knit sweater, I knew I would put it to good use. This winter out of the last three has definitely been the coldest. Long sleeves and lightweight jackets are not going to cut it. An item like this is stylish on its own, but even better with a vest or under your go-to parka. You be the judge.

Colored denim is one of last year’s trends that I plan to keep around. With jeans available for purchase in nearly every color of the rainbow, it is sort of inexcusable to wear a boring outfit these days. I almost always break out the colored skinnies when I wear a white top. Burgundy is a season-proof hue and it nicely compliments the bordeaux shades in my boots. I polished off the look with my cream purse and a red lip. Hopefully you are not tired of seeing either because they’re two of my favorite items right now.

Dress up your jeans and flats outfit, or top a bodycon midi dress for added coverage. The options are endless. When I first received these two items from SheIn, I didn’t consider wearing them together. Little did I know, this black turtleneck poncho was the perfect match for a patchwork skirt!

It is not a secret – I have a “thing” for over the knee boots! Over the last several weeks I have styled them like this, this, and this. I am always looking for an excuse to wear them. When I came across this incredible skirt, I jumped on the opportunity to wear my OTK boots AGAIN. The patchwork design is an eclectic take on the traditional faux leather mini skirt. I was attracted to the mustard and brown panels, but it’s also available in a green and mauve pattern. Truthfully, this little number would look haute with any black top, the poncho, or should I say, chic sweatshirt, added a cozy twist!
