The Gianni Bini Lizzy Feather Jacket from Dillard’s, is officially my favorite piece of the year. Perfectly tailored, and ultra feminine, you’ll feel like a celebrity when you rock this fluffy thing. Wear it open, or fasten it closed, and style it with all black for the chicest look. I paired this jacket with a high neck lace bodysuit, steaming things up a bit. For bottoms, tuxedo pants seemed to fit the occasion, plus the slim legs didn’t interfere with the feather hem. You don’t want too much bulk under there!

 
I accessorized with pearl earrings and glitter pumps to incorporate some lighter hues back into the mix. These pumps are not your average heels, instead they are a killer knockoff of the ever popular Valentino Rockstud Pump. Available at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, for a fraction of the cost ($69), if you’re attending holiday parties this year, consider them a necessity. While there is nothing better than pink and gold sparkles in my book, if the rose gold is too flashy for you, the black and pewter pair is a great alternative.

Who would have thought that a mesh panel would be our (short legged folks’) saving grace?! I sure didn’t before trying on this faux leather mesh-paneled skirt. The peek-a-boo panel prevents your legs from appearing cut off, all while creating an edgy look and feel. On the other hand, you do not want your mesh to come off as tacky…style it with caution. I sweetened up the look with a black and white tie-neck blouse – the bow adds a touch of sophistication. Polishing off the look with dainty pearl jewelry and a classic Gucci purse, helped me further balance out the playful see-through detail.

Miriam Haskell the world-renowed jewelry aficionado opened the doors of her first boutique in 1926 in New York’s McAlpin Hotel. “Le Bijou De L’Heure” quickly became the go-to shop for high society women to purchase custom-made jewels to match their haute couture ensembles. Joan Crawford, the Dutchess of Windsor, and Lucille Ball to name a few. During Haskell’s travels to Paris where she would hand select the finest beads and findings, she would enjoy tea with none other than Coco Chanel. It is said that Haskell’s “design artist,” Frank Hess would join the ladies as they discussed matters related to the fashion industry and upcoming collections.

Today, the Miriam Haskell company continues to run in NYC. Each precious piece is crafted entirely by hand and are reminiscent of Haskell’s original vintage designs. Many finished items feature pearls and Swarovski crystals pieced together into ornate treasures. The chandelier earrings featured in A Black Tie Affair are a wonderful example of this exquisite artistry. No matter what angle you see them from, they are simply stunning – one of Haskell’s key features.  Unlike your average costume jewelry, these masterpieces are assembled meticulously from top to bottom so that even the backside, or the clasp of the jewelry is dazzling (no pun intended!). I am happy to report, that Jest Jewels has the largest assortment of Miriam Haskell finds I have ever come across.
