Winter White: Three Looks, Three Personalities

Out with the old, in with the NEW. I am here to reassure you that you are NOT committing a sin wearing white after Labor Day. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! There is nothing more radiant than a crisp winter white ensemble. Below are three sample looks, each with very different personalities. How would you identify yourself…Classic chill, Chic Snow Kitty, Winter Spice, or something in between?!

Classic Chill

The sweater dress is a wardrobe staple, and can be dressed several different ways. This look is what I refer to as, “classic with a twist.” Featuring a traditional turtleneck silhouette, the pearl frills add a modern day flair. Consider pairing this item with metallic accents like a clear and gold purse or even a pair of sequin boots! More is more especially when you’re working with a monochromatic (solid white) color scheme.

Snow Kitty Chic

Who doesn’t love a reliable onesie?! I’ve said it once and I am saying it again, rompers/jumpsuits are AWESOME because they do the thinking for you. You are off the hook coordinating an entire ensemble – simply slip it on and go! Can I get a hallelujah?! This snow leopard print jumpsuit features a plunging neckline and elegant sheen. Wrapped in a Little Pink Bow Dress

‘Tis the season for all the parties. Whether you have a wedding to attend, an expecting mother to shower, or maybe you are the guest of honor, this sweet little bow dress will suit the occasion.

Special occasions call for photo taking. For that reason, I rarely wear the same “special occasion dress” twice. When I’m in the market for a statement piece, the Asos Design collection is the first place I look. So many of the items are under $100 and reflect current trends. This bow dress included with only a $60 price tag! The Asos Design collection is also size inclusive featuring: petite, plus, tall, and maternity lines. Hooray!

Feel pretty in pink wearing this stylish dress. It’s easy to wear as it does not require “sprucing.” The material is thick and stretchy, yet the cut is loose and flattering. It barely skims the belly and hugs the hips in all of the right places. The over-sized bow adds just enough oomph to this classic dress. Pair it with pearls for an ultra feminine feel.

Rainbow Tweed Suit the Kelsey Kaplan Fashion Way

I never thought I would wear a tweed suit! I have always associated tweed fabric with a preppy style of dress, and “preppy” does not describe me. But after falling in love with this rainbow tweed suit, I have come to a realization. It is not the fabric, it is how you wear it.

This rainbow skirt suit is not your average tweed garment – the funky colors alone make it a total standout. But the puff sleeves, crop fit, and pearl buttons are what make it STELLAR! Has your mood ever completely elevated after trying on an outfit?! Yeah, that is what happened to me when I slipped into this little thing. I already cannot wait to wear the blazer with jeans. I may just pack it for my trip to New York Fashion Week – another reason to ride the tweed bandwagon. It packs well and does not wrinkle!

About the Fit:
This rainbow tweed suit is petite gal friendly. I would even go as far as saying it runs small. Across the board I find ASOS Design items to run one size small. For your reference, I am five feet tall and wearing a size 2 in the skirt. I always have trouble finding jackets/blazers that fit in the shoulders (I have a narrow frame), but this one fits perfectly and I wearing the 0. Size up if you are busty, but act fast because this item will not be in stock for too long.

Burgundy Jumpsuit for the Busy Season

Happy November! Can you believe I am saying this? October was a whirlwind of a month, but now that it is behind us, it is time to start thinking about the HOLIDAYS. I confess: I will be living in this color through the New Year. More specifically, this burgundy jumpsuit!

I think we can all appreciate a versatile item that is well-made and under $50. This pretty little thing is one of them and can go dressy or casual for the ~~party~~ busy season. Maybe you are meeting your girl gang for Happy Hour then continuing on to a work party. Simply swap a jean jacket for a faux fur capelet, a cross-body bag for a glamorous purse and VOILA! You’re ready for whatever life throws at you.

Somehow I missed the memo that this burgundy jumpsuit was “petite” when I ordered it. What a pleasant surprise when I tried it on only to discover that the pant legs were not miles long. 1950s Throwback: The Polka Dot Dress

The slingback pumps are back already. But this time they are accompanying a dress. Today on the blog I am throwing it back to the 1950s in this polka dot dress!

This retro little number is a modern-day take on the t-shirt dress – a “basic with a twist.” The material is soft and stretchy, while the princess seams and fit and flare silhouette are ultra flattering on the hips. Had I thought of it earlier, I would have styled this polka dot dress with a pillbox hat. Who do I think I am, Marilyn Monroe or something?! One must pair a classic print with equally classy accessories. That is where the pearls come into the picture…

To me, pearl jewelry is the equivalent of a neutral coat. It matches with everything. You already heard my schpiel about this glamorous purse, but I want to share a story with you regarding the sunglasses. They are certainly a splurge item (dupe available here), but they did help land me a spot in Harper’s Bazar during NYFW…just sayin’. Anyway, have you ever experienced buyer’s remorse? When you buy something and then feel unconfident as to whether or not you made the right decision afterwards? Usually this feeling is self-inflicted, but just the opposite occurred when I purchased these designer frames. The sales associate encouraged me to return the sunglasses after wearing them for the weekend because “[ I ] could only photograph such a statement piece once or twice.” AWKWARD. I can appreciate a salesperson not being too salesperson-y, but this person was causing me buyer’s remorse before I even left the store. I am happy to report that I’m thrilled with my purchase, and I have already shot them a handful of times. When you know, YOU KNOW. I guess that’s love!
