Outfit waste is no bueno. In fact, I encourage re-weariing your favorite ensembles. Just remember to switch things up a tad each time. The easiest way to accomplish this, when you are working with a shift dress, is to top it with something different and change the shoes accordingly. To create a dramatic look, consider topping your dress with a cape and throw on a pair or pumps or strappy sandals. For a more casual look, cover up in a denim jacket and strut a pair of lace-up flats. Catch my drift?!

In the featured look, I rocked this hot number solo and left the drama to the accessories. A-line and true retro style, this shift is great for Sunday brunch, a festive dinner, and everything in between. I plan on wearing this dress to wine country later this week. As you can see, I pulled out the fuchsia in the print with a pair of bright pink stilettos. I’ll be swapping those out for some wine-tasting- friendly wedges! Style Tip: Ask your tailor to save you the hem of your dress or skirt and wear it as a headband!

Lace can be classy when styled tastefully – don’t let it scare you away. One of the easiest ways to tone lace down is by pairing it with matching separates, as demonstrated in today’s outfit. Do you agree that this look would be considered way racy if paired with a bright red skirt?! Stick with a monochromatic scheme to avoid the steam. This goes for your undergarments as well.

Unless you are toping your lace bodysuit with a jacket or blazer, choose a loose fitting garment for your lower half. This could come in the form of a maxi skirt, palazzo pants, or any a-line silhouette. I matched a navy blue skater skirt with mine. This ladylike shape helped balance out the sheer upper half.

Feminine details can instantly soften up an “edgy” look. In this instance, I accessorized with navy flower earrings and a bedazzled box clutch to accomplish this goal. Polishing off the look with bright pink pumps and a matching lip, not only did this hue add girly touches, but it appropriately “broke up” all of the blue. If you want to get your feet wet before breaking out the checks and dots, then hear me out! A great way to experiment with contrasting separates is to start with a stand-out accessory. This could be a pair of bold shoes, a purse, or in this case, sunglasses. When I came across these sunnies at Ambiance, I instantly fell in love. No they are not the most practical pair that I own, but they sure will make a statement when I rock ’em. Rather than styling these fun frames with a solid top or dress, I went for my favorite blue striped boyfriend shirt and white cut-off shorts. How did I arrive at this configuration? I was going for the mixed prints look but in a more subtle fashion. Within the geometric pattern of the sunglasses, blue is very prevalent and the reason I paired them with a blue striped shirt! To pull in another prevailing color, I embellished the look with bright pink pumps, and a matching floppy hat. Finally, to incorporate more of the geometric pattern, I polished off the outfit with a similar multi-colored clutch purse. How’s that for a mixed prints beginner run?!

While venturing out near Rio Vista, CA (aka the wind turbine capital!) for a summer soirée with relatives, it seemed like a rather fitting occasion to break out my fabulous find! The rest of my outfit consisted of what I like to call my “uniform.” Just like anything else in life, when you find something that works, take it and run with it. For me, that is a pair of jeans, a blouse, a statement necklace, and a blazer. In the ensemble below I styled a pair of mauve distressed skinny jeans. These chic pants can easily take the place of your traditional blue jeans – consider them a neutral. I paired a navy blouse with them and topped it off with my go-to cropped white jacket. To incorporate fuchsia back into the mix, I hung an iridescent rhinestone necklace around my neck, and threw on my favorite hot kicks.

In case you’re wondering, it was extremely windy during this shoot – hence the reason for windblown hair!

No way was I leaving without a couple of new pieces, one of which was this amazing white top. You can never have enough white tops. But just like I alluded to last Friday, if you’re going to add another “basic” to your wardrobe, you might as well add one with a twist. This charming Textured Pleat Top is full of ’em! Appear effortlessly chic thanks to the structured fit, and high neck line. For the big debut, I hit the San Fran streets in stonewash distressed denim and added a pop of color with bright pink pumps and lips. I further accessorized with a black and white plaid clutch wallet, and a dramatic pair of bedazzled earrings, and for the first time ever on KK and GG, I styled my hair in a full bun. It was the right decision – the earrings and shirt are too good to run the risk of covering them up.

It was a good week for frequent Cow Hollow/Marina district shoppers! Sugarfina, the elite candy boutique opened its doors at 1837 Union Street. From sugar gummy lips, to martini olive almonds, to candy cocktails, if you’re looking for the finest assortment of sugar confections, this is your spot. While my hubby was very impressed with the single malt scotch cordials, I was pretty much drooling over the chocolate toasted hazelnuts that I may or may not have polished off after this shoot. The Ponte Crop Top in “Boom Boom” is the perfect balance of flirty and fun. The bright green and white print is great for the spring and summer months. Wear this top with a high-waisted white skirt, and strappy white sandals, or go a different route and style this top with some white jeans. I chose a pair of white flare jeans, but it would also work with some straight leg trousers. I further adorned myself with a black and green necklace, a chunky bangle, and my plaid clutch wallet. Finally, I polished off the look with a contrasting bright pink shoe (surprise surprise!).

I was particularly attracted to this denim tee because it could easily go dressy or casual. With a few business attire events coming up, I decided to take the dressier route and style this piece tucked into a pair of gray gingham trousers – the best pair out there. These slacks are medium-rise and available in regular, short, and long lengths – not to mention constructed out of extremely comfortable stretch fabric and machine washable. If slim fit and boot cut sound good to you, go straight to happy hour from the office in the Columnist Pant. In the ensemble below, I tied in the blue jean color with a navy belt and a glamorous blue statement necklace. Finally, because I’ll never pass up the opportunity to add a pop of color to any look, I completed the outfit with a pair of pink pumps and “Girl About Town,” a bright fuchsia lipstick.
