I cannot paint a pretty picture with a brush, but I can create a pretty cool outfit mixing contrasting colors. Tip: consider the family, not the hue. Do not waste time fixating on the “perfect” shade of red, or the “right” shade of green. Remember, if it’s in the same color family, the colors are complimentary. In this case, vermilion and chartreuse. Commonly known as red and green, no one questions whether or not Christmas colors! Catch my drift? Hopefully photos do this chartreuse top justice. I am not sure what I love more: the bubble sleeves or the floral embroidery. Regardless, this stunner is under $40 and will not last very long.

Colored denim > than blue denim. Ok fine, maybe that is a little bit aggresive. But I think we can all agree that a bright pair of jeans will have more heads turnin’ than a traditional pair of dungarees! These flame red hot pants are only $60 and will effortlessly “spice” up your wardrobe. Aside from their vibrant flair, they have proven to be quite versatile. If you follow me on Instagram, than you may recall when I wore them with a white sweater and brocade slides. Fast forward a couple of weeks and here I am styling them with a chartreuse top. Score! Now the looks are all there, but how do they fit? Like a dream…if you’re petite like me. It’s a rare occasion that I buy jeans without making a trip to the tailor. These pants are ankle length…right out of the box. I’m also impressed with the stretch factor. I love mom jeans, but homegirl has muscular thighs. The more stretch the better.

Tops for Every Occasion

I fell into the ruffle rut. For a while there, every single top I purchased was adorned with ruffles. Ruffles are great but they do not match with everything. Categorize your tops into three categories: statement, basic with a twist, and casual. When you start stacking one category, shift your efforts to another. In the example above, too many of the tops I was buying fell under “statement.” I am currently building my “casual” collection. Catch my drift?!

Jackets and Toppers

I do not just wear clothes, I style them. I cannot leave the house in just a top and a bottom. Jackets and toppers make this fixation hella easier! It is already the 9th of October – stock up on these key items: cozy knit sweaters, longline vests, and lightweight jackets. This faux leather and fur bomber will add just enough flair to your autumn attire without breaking the bank.

Shoes Galore

One can never own enough shoes…as long as they are different styles. I used to be a one trick pony in the shoe department. It was high heels or nothin’. I recently got on the loafer bandwagon, however, and it has changed my outlook on flats. Branch out this season and incorporate bold booties (think white!), and embellished flats into your autumn attire.

The jogger pant consists of an elastic waist and leg openings. The fit is loose and slouchy, and depending on the material, they can look dressy or casual. To me, dressy is safe so I prefer a silk or polyester composition. But if you’re looking for an alternative to your Wunder Unders, consider a cottony material. So how do you style a pair of joggers?! Allow me to explain.

For a daytime look, tie up an embellished t-shirt and throw on your favorite slides. Take it up a notch by layering dainty necklaces over each other. Casual has its place but I dressed my joggers for date night. Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of lace can do? This bodysuit singlehandedly transformed my ensemble into evening wear. Lately these baroque mules are my best walking shoes, but a strappy black sandal would look even better.

The Red Dress Boutique is slowly but surely becoming my go-to shop for standout pieces. This two-piece set is also from there. The prices are reasonable and I’m always able to find something that suits me. All of the product descriptions include the model’s specs so I can always tell whether or not the items will be petite-friendly. This romper is just under $60 but it fits like a designer item. The embroidery detail is simply stunning and the keyhole back adds a touch of elegance. Also available in white, if there is a bride-to-be in your life, be a hero and let her know. No need to credit me!

This romper speaks for itself. When you wear a statement piece, let it shine! Sticking to my own rules, I accessorized with simple black accents. These tassel earrings and wedge sandals perfectly fit the outfit’s vibes. Jumping at the opportunity to debut my chevron purse, I completed the look with this pretty little thing. Sol Food is located in Mill Valley in Marin County. Keep in mind that the temperature rises five to 10 degrees as soon as you cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Err on the side of caution and dress in laters. Open for business 10-9pm on the weekdays and 9-9pm on the weekends, patrons frequent the joint in an array of outfits. Some in workout clothes, scrubs, business attire, or play clothes. When I’m not in shorts, I’m in boyfriend jeans and a graphic tee.

You already know I overdress. What can I say, I am most confident when I like my outfit! Snag these striped shorts quick because they are only $14.90 and will go like hot cakes! I plan to dress them up with strappy heels and a blazer on another occasion. For today however, I am dressing them down with a flowing halter top and wedge sandals. I always keep a light jacket with me. You never know when Karl the Fog will make an appearance. Now go fill up on tostones and chicken and remember to order the pink beans!

Tony’s is another one of those restaurants that is equally tasty as it is chill. With both tourists and locals frequenting the joint, you can probably imagine the diversity in outfits! Although dining inside is a quintessential San Francisco experience, I never pass up the opportunity to sit outside with GG…plus the patio has heaters. Score!

It was 72 degrees last weekend – no heaters needed. Shorts weather is few and far between in San Francisco so I bronzed my legs in a pair of cutoff shorts. If you remember anything from this post, make it this: wear pants/shorts that stretch when you dine at Tony’s! This outfit is pretty glamorous for a pizza party, but fancy is my middle name.

I dressed these shorts with a black cami and topped ’em with a sheer embroidered top. The open front kimono is making a comeback for spring 2017 and I’m loving it. They double as swimsuit cover-ups and super chic overcoats. I love the added coverage minus the bulk. In case you were wondering, these wedge sandals are another pair of Seychelles shoes. If you’ve been following my blog from the start, than you know by now that I hardly ever wear flats. Unless I am working out, I take advantage of every boost that I can get! However, there have already been a number of occasions this month where a pair of flats would have been ideal. On that note, I consider the Accelerate Fringe Sandals a need, rather than a want. These flats also come in standard black, gray, and tan, but when styled correctly, the rust can act as a neutral. Pair them with cutoff shorts and rompers.

There is something so sweet and innocent about espadrilles. Maybe that is because of the childhood memories I have, during our time in Puerto Rico, running the neighborhood in espadrille sandals. Whatever the reason, they remain a popular warm weather item and look lovely with feminine ensembles. I am crushing hard on the Bethani by Jessica Simpson. These peep toe wedges are perfect for baby showers, weddings, and every other spring soiree that comes your way. If you are not a fan of blush (who isn’t these days?), then go for a buff pair.

No matter the time of year, black and brown is one of my favorite color combinations. It is effortless, yet classic, chic, and easy to put together at the same time. Chinese Laundry has done all of the work for you this season with the Lila Sandals. These patterned beauties will sharpen any outfit and add a pop of color thanks to the contrasting heel pattern. I envision these heels with a sleek black bodysuit or white denim outfit. The best part about ’em is that you can wear them through the fall! This is what I refer to as a “bang for the buck.”

Hallelujah! There it was. Sitting pretty on the shelf, an orange leather rolling carry-on perfect for a fashionista. The color is not the only thing worth drooling over. The leather is incredibly soft and features fine gold and bamboo details. Gold hardware is the key to my heart, and during my online search, all that I could find was chrome! The interior is lined in canvas and includes a side zip pocket. As if it wasn’t good enough already, get ready for this…the wheel base is detachable. When you’re off the plane, remove the wheels and use as a shoulder bag. How fabulous is that for $186?!

Aesthetics are important but functionality is key. This baby has both! I was able to safely carry my 15 inch MacBook Pro (see case here), a Nikon DSLR camera (in a bulky case), a makeup bag, wallet, and cellphone with room for plenty more. I don’t think I have ever been so excited to wait in line at airport security. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I am banking on some compliments from the TSA agents! If it took me this long to find a fashionable rolling carry-on, chances are high they’ve never laid eyes on one either.

Now about the outfit…if it looks familiar, you have a good memory. I last wore the cape here. Anyway, with Sedona as my final destination, I thought the Southwestern print was very fitting. With temperatures fluctuating from the high 40’s to the high 70’s I swapped out the black booties for a pair of caged cutout heels.
