Velvet

First things first: gravitate towards toasty fabrics. What I mean is, save the cutout garments for the spring, and dress in corduroy, wool, or velvet instead. These materials will act as powerful insulators against the chill. This emerald velvet top, for instance, is perfect for underneath a chunky coat. If this beaut doesn’t scream “holiday,” I do not know what does!

Faux Fux

Faux fur is a glamorous adornment during the cold weather months. But not only does it look great, it is very functional. Consider incorporating faux fur accessories into your holiday ensemble. With the addition of these fur lined gloves and imitation “shapka” hat, this look can go from SF to CT in a matter of seconds. It’s already in my suitcase!

Boots

Pumps are my favorite, but boots are the warmest. And in my experience (I grew up in the North East), when your head and your feet are warm, the rest of your body is cozy. I highly recommend working over the knee boots into your festive looks. The ultra high shaft will shield your legs from the cold air. Just remember to protect them with weather proof spray. The snow, and salty roads can do a lot of damage to your kicks.
