Parties and cookie swaps come hand-in-hand with the holiday season. While we all wish to participate, more times than not, time is a factor. Do you have enough time to prepare 5 dozen cookies?! Do you have enough time to crank out a spread of goodies for your house guests?! If time is precious, but you’ve already committed, this three step chocolate covered pretzel recipe is for you! Here is what you’ll need: 1 bag pretzel rods 1 10 oz bag white chocolate chips Assortment of sprinkles Begin by melting chocolate chips over a double boiler. Once chocolate is creamy and spreadable, slather it over 3/4 of pretzel rod. While chocolate is warm, cover in sprinkles. Allow pretzels to dry on a lined cookie sheet (aluminum foil or wax paper will work). If you need to speed up the process, pop tray into the refrigerator for an hour or more. Serve by the rod, or line a flower vase with decorative tissue paper and fill with pretzels. Enjoy!
I had so much fun decorating our mantle with gelt (chocolate coins), a crystal menorah, dreidels, and latkes banner this year. But let’s get real, it wouldn’t be a holiday in the Kaplan household without Sift Cupcakes. They sure do taste as good as they look, and there is still time to send your loved ones a sweet treat in honor of the Festival of Lights. I recommend the “Ooh Lala” and the “Sky is Falling,” Sift’s version of a red velvet and chocolate cupcake. Along with the holiday season comes fabulous festive outfits! Already having dabbled with feathers and sequins, for this seasonal look I was inspired by the whole “ugly Christmas sweater” thing. This black and blue fringe skirt was my Hanukkah version, and I styled it with black accents. The studded turtleneck helped create dimension, while the faux fur cropped jacket added drama – something every special occasion ensemble should have. I accessorized lightly with statement earrings, a cocktail ring, and cupcakes. Order your ugly Hanukkah skirt by texting Current Clothing (415-980-4772) or shop other featured items below. If you follow this blog, then chances are high that you have also been following along with Pantone’s big announcement! The cat’s out of the bag, and for the first time ever, they announced two colors to represent 2016. “Rose Quartz” and “Serenity” to be official. Or, in layman’s terms, Blush and Periwinkle. Below are a few goodies in none other than Rose Quartz and Serenity, currently on my wish list. This Asymmetric Cape Coat in light pink is one word: magical. The perfect item to top your winter pastel outfit with. Whether you rock it over a dress, pants, or a skirt, pair it with some glittery accessories and you’ll be the talk of the town. Hunter Rain Boots – enough said! You will not regret investing in reliable foul weather gear and there is no one who does it better than Hunter. The Original Tour Rain Boots in Mineral Blue will brighten any rainy day. Speaking of glittery accessories, the Magic at Midnight Rhinestone Clutch in blush would be an excellent choice. Carry it as a clutch, or attach the dainty chain and wear it as an elegant shoulder bag. Dreamy… […]
A versatile chunky sweater will become your BFF during the winter months. You have probably noticed them styled to a T while leafing through your favorite magazines, and across Instagram by your fellow fashionistas. Although today, I am showing you how to style a chunky sweater for a casual day in the city, don’t be surprised if you see this cozy knit-ware pop up again with a skirt! Basic with a twist…my exact thoughts when it comes to buying a sweater. If you live in a moderate climate like San Francisco, then there is no need to stock up on heavy cardigans – choose wisely! That is why I suggest a neutral color, like the off-white sweater pictured below. This one fit the bill as it features a playful fringe detail and a dolman sleeve. Dark ripped jeans seem to be my go-to bottoms this season, so I paired them with this sweater to create contrast. I polished off the look with snuggly fur-lined ankle boots, and a faux fur headband. I have never been very good at “throwing on” an outfit. To me, coordinating an ensemble takes a lot of thought and consideration. After many years of arriving fashionably late (literally and figuratively) one too many times, I’ve finally figured it out! Here is what it takes to throw together a look without sacrificing your fabulous style. Begin with a solid colored blouse. Rather than gravitating towards white or black, stick to a neutral, but go for something slightly more interesting like beige, ivory, or blush (as seen below). If possible, make it a neutral with a twist. As you can see, this blush top features white piping down the sides and a surplice back. After that, adorn yourself in a printed scarf. I’ve said it once and I’m saying it again, transform a bland outfit into a fashion masterpiece in a matter of seconds with a fab scarf. For this look, I chose a geometric and leopard printed scarf – it did just the trick. Now on to the denim…pair your top and scarf with embellished jeans. Stonewashed denim, coated denim, or distressed denim will work the best. While I am a huge […]
