Black and Gold Origami Romper

Origami is making a comeback, but not in paper form. Rather in the form of skirts, shorts, and skorts, and boy is it flattering. Although I’ve noticed this trend for several months, this weekend was the first time I took an origami garment out for a spin. When something is hot, Current Clothing is the spot! Of course this chic boutique would carry such a fashionable item. This black and gold one-piece stunner is everything you’ve ever wanted in a romper. Unlike some onezies that take you back to kindergarten, this one is figure flattering and age-appropriate in several ways. First of all, you can barely even tell that the top and bottom are connected. The upper half is no different than your go-to black v-neck blouse, and the perfectly tailored skort synches right at the waist. What a treat when someone else does the thinking for once! Angora Vest

If you’ve been keeping up with with Kelsey Kaplan Fashion, then you already know I’m a big fan of a mini dress and over-the-knee boots. Throw in an angora vest and what you get is perfection. Leave it to Current Clothing to carry such an ensemble. You can never go wrong with a monochromatic look. Just like pairing black and black, you can do the same with virtually every color in the rainbow. Already stocked up on enough brown faux fur, it was only natural to scoop up this gray vest. For today’s outfit of the day (#ootd), I kept things simple with a gray color scheme, and styled this fuzzy vest with a faux suede tunic. Only five feet tall, this top fit me as a mini dress, but it could be worn as a long-line top too. To create contrast, I accessorized with sheer black lace stockings, an ombré clutch, and suede over-the-knee boots – what a difference a little lace makes! Not your Average Overalls

Just like cord skirts were popular during my childhood years, so were overalls. While they have resurfaced in 2015 fashions, it has been hard for me to find a pair that did not look like they were straight out of the construction site. Maybe that is my own fault because I gravitated towards the denim ones, regardless, I finally found ’em and they are not your average overalls! Culottes overalls, my friends…head on over to Forever21.com and order a pair and do it fast! This adult “playsuit” is available in mustard – a great fall hue, features pockets (score!), and a wide leg design. I choose to pair mine with a lace bodysuit because I didn’t want the look to come off as juvenile. Plus, dressy is always better in the KK and GG book. If lace doesn’t suit your fancy, swap it out for a solid black fitted top. I accessorized lightly with a fringe necklace and gold hinge bracelet, and used the opportunity to mix prints incorporating a leopard print clutch. I completed the look with black peep-toe booties. Leave a Mark at the Gym

Whether you are hitting up the Bar Method, Soulcycle, or Bikram Yoga, there is nothing more motivating than cute new workout clothes. For the fashionista at heart, who does not sacrifice style at the gym, this one is for you. Introducing Onzie active wear. If you didn’t think that color-blocking existed in the activewear space, you would be wrong. Check out the Peace Pant leggings in olive. These full length pants feature multicolored panels keeping things interesting while you work out. Pair them with a black tank and stay cool. From fitted racerbacks, crop tops, strappy bras, to low-back tees, Onzie has got it all. I am particularly enamored with the Navy Hamsa tank. This pretty little thing features a mosaic print front and low-back design. Pair this piece with a Chic Bra Top and leave everyone in class with strap envy. Mesh-Paneled Skirt

Finding a flattering pencil skirt when you are only five feet tall can be a bit of a challenge. You do not want the skirt to “cut off” your legs at an awkward spot – they are already short enough. This is particularly important to keep in mind when you are styling a below-the-knee length garment. It only took me a decade to find a solution to this problem, but better late than never. Let’s talk MESH! Who would have thought that a mesh panel would be our (short legged folks’) saving grace?! I sure didn’t before trying on this faux leather mesh-paneled skirt. The peek-a-boo panel prevents your legs from appearing cut off, all while creating an edgy look and feel. On the other hand, you do not want your mesh to come off as tacky…style it with caution. I sweetened up the look with a black and white tie-neck blouse – the bow adds a touch of sophistication. Polishing off the look with dainty pearl jewelry and a classic Gucci purse, helped me further balance out the playful see-through detail.
