Some Free People is Better than No Free People

Clothes can have sentimental value. As silly as it sounds, sometimes it is just too hard to part with the dress you wore the night of your rehearsal dinner, or the outfit you wore the day you were hired for your dream job. Six Octobers ago, I rocked this Free People dress on my first date with my future hubby. Now, every anniversary of our first date, I break out this little number in an attempt to relive a monumental night. There’s nothing wrong with re-wearing the same piece over and over again, but if you’re going to do it, keep it up with the times.     Back in 2009, I wore this dress solo, with my hair long and straight, a nude lip, and a pair of peep-toe booties. Fast-forward to October 2015, and I completely transformed the look with a faux fur stole from Bebe. This simple addition not only fancied up the look, but it brought out the peacock design on the bodice of the dress. I further switched things up by incorporating black Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots. Minis and OTK boots is totally a thing this season, so this combo helped me refreshen the ensemble […]

Wish List Wednesday: Dreamy Outerwear

Although we are experiencing a Native American Summer in San Francisco, apparently the rest of the country is cooling down. With all this talk about the fall, pumpkin spice lattes, and boots, today I am sharing with you a few pieces on my outerwear wish list.   The Picket Dreams Black and Brown Color Block Coat from lulu*s is perfection. This black and brown beauty will match with most and add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your ensemble. The mid-thigh length and wool-blend composition make this double-breasted coat appropriate for wear through the winter months as well.       If you’re fond of a black on black look, then this one from the Red Dress Boutique is for you. Let the Arabian Nights Coat do all the popping for you! Featuring a gorgeous multi-colored embroidery, consider this stunner the icing on the cake over your all black attire. I’m thinking mini dress and midnight black over the knee boots…       Chevron has been trending for the last couple of years, as faux fur is just now filling the shelves at every major retailer. Put the two together and you get the Urbancode Faux Fur Chevron […]

Free People Lace Dress

I know I am generalizing, but all Free People clothing is fabulous. From the fine fabrics, fit, to the design, each detail is so well thought out and crafted beautifully. Consider a FP purchase an investment – without the buyer’s remorse!     The Free People Walking to the Sun dress in cream is too cute for words. Featuring 3/4 length sleeves and a ruffle hem, this lace number is a great piece for the fall. On sale for $64 at Shopbop, wear it solo or pair it with long-line sleeveless outwear. If you’re old school and cannot justify white-tones after Labor Day, not to worry, this dress is also available in black and dandelion. Choosing to rock this little thing solo, I accessorized with a chunky necklace and my favorite pumpkin clutch. Mixing textures is one of the easiest ways to jazz up your ensemble, so I polished off the look with a leopard print wedge bootie.     Is L&L (lace and leopard) in your future?! Bell Bottom Jeans

The 1970’s called, they want their bell bottoms back! It is always a good idea to have a cute jeans outfit on hand. I think we can all agree that jeans are the most versatile article of clothing in our closets! Take your go-to denim ensemble to the next level with a pair of bell bottoms!     I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Just Black, by Just USA, at Current Clothing. This line of jeans offers extraordinarily comfortable fashions at a very affordable price point. When I came across these high-waisted bell bottoms, there was no looking back! Only 5 feet tall, I take advantage of any “hack” that I can for an elongated appearance. These pants, my friends, will do just that! I paired these bottoms with a fitted off the shoulder top for a polished look and accessorized with a fringe statement necklace and flash lens sunglasses. If this doesn’t demonstrate the importance of accessorizing, I don’t know what does! Undoubtedly, the necklace makes the outfit.     To order this featured outfit, call Nancy at Current Clothing (415) 400-5517 or shop similar styles below: Top (similar) | Jeans (similar) | Shoes   Are you reading […]

Little Black Cape Dress

Great news for all of you Union Street shopaholics. The chicest boutique in town, Current Clothing, just received a new shipment of HOT fall styles. From skirts, tops, faux leather jackets, denim, to accessories – you name it they’ve got it! With more than one cocktail occasion on my October calendar, I scooped up this LBD.     As you are aware, I have a minor obsession with capes. They are the perfect finishing touch to nearly any ensemble – dressy or causal. Naturally, when I laid eyes on this black cape dress, it was love at first sight! There is no such thing as too many little black dresses, but before you add another to your collection, ask yourself why this one is different from the rest. This LBD is unique because it features long sleeves and a cape. Long sleeves are a plus for San Francisco fall weather and the cape adds a nice flair. Taking advantage of every opportunity I have to rock open-toe shoes before I retire them for the year, I styled this number with taupe fringe sandals and a matching purse. I polished off the look with glitzy statement earrings and a red lip. […]
