With the 67th Emmy Awards in the books, I cannot help but comment on a few of my favorite red carpet looks! Below are my top five. Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland, stuns in a Zac Posen gown. The fit and flare silhouette compliments her petite frame, while the off the shoulder neckline adds just enough drama. Statement earrings complete this elegant ensemble. Kerry Washington rocks the red carpet in a silver and sheer bedazzled Marc Jacobs midi dress. Featuring shoulder pads, a plunging neckline, and high leg slit, this hot number is one to remember. Ms. Washington did it just right with a simple hairstyle and dainty sandals. The Orange Is The New Black star, Taylor Schilling, was anything but mellow in her sunny yellow Stella McCartney gown. The asymmetrical neckline and flowing skirt grabs your attention from the front, while the backless design is too hot to trot. The box clutch and matching yellow sandals complete the look nicely. Laverne Cox, killed it with cutouts in a custom turquoise Calvin Klein dress. Simple and chic, this dress hugged her curves in all the right places. The polished hairstyle, yellow sandals, and […]
I have enough jewelry. – Said no one ever Mail-order subscription services are becoming very popular in the fashion and beauty space. Companies such as Birchbox offer affordable monthly subscriptions in exchange for a handful of sample-size beauty products. ShoeDazzle charges your card automatically and emails you a custom showroom of hot kicks to choose from at the beginning of the month. While I love revamping my shoe rack monthly with ShoeDazzle, Rocksbox is the only other subscription service I have come to love. Just like every other fashionista, I am CRAZY for jewelry. With an armoire overflowing with baubles and a necklace rack weighed down with bling, although I genuinely love styling new outfits with new jewels, it doesn’t mean I need to own them all. That is where Rocksbox comes in! For only $19.99 per month, find a fabulous package of loaner jewelry in your mailbox – no unseemly pieces either. It is quite the contrary, including designs from women such as: Kendra Scott, Loren Hope, and Margaret Elizabeth just to name a few. Each box of rocks, features three trendy items (a $200 value) – handpicked according to your taste, thanks to the handy […]
Just like a good black on black ensemble, a monochromatic theme works well with color also. In the spirit of fall, I am presenting to you my favorite hue of the season, wine. Wine, aka burgundy, is one of the few colors that flatters any complexion. The Cumulonimbus Clouds Burgundy Skater Dress is a great option. Featuring a fitted bodice that tappers out to a flirty skater skirt, rock this little number at the office, or happy hour, and feel good while doing it. Aside from the complimentary fit, the scalloped detailing along the sleeves and skirt add just enough cuteness. Although you could easy jazz up this dress with gold accessories, I enriched the color by styling it with wine accessories, starting with faux suede caged sandals. These hot kicks give the ensemble the appropriate amount of edge, and in addition to their good looks, they are flat out comfortable! I polished off the outfit with the Geo du Jour Cutout Clutch – also in burgundy, and threw on my favorite iridescent necklace and earrings. The next time you go out to wine and dine, consider this monochromatic look! Shop this Post: Dress (Fit: […]
With all the talk of pumpkin spice lattes, and fall-like colors taking over my favorite stores, I cannot contain my excitement for boot season! I’ve slowly but surely been collecting booties as they make for an easy transitional item, but it is time to get with the program and talk BOOTS. The Ziggy fringe over the knee boot is too hot to trot! Featuring a four inch heel and fringe back detail, these hot kicks will effortlessly transform your look from good to great! Whether your rock ’em in taupe or black, the outfit possibilities are endless. While temperatures remain moderate, I suggest a trapeze dress and matching hat. When it cools down, try them with leggings or coated skinny jeans. The Reese knee high boot in brown will become your go-to shoe this season. The closed-toe version of a knee high gladiator sandal, these lacy things will match with just about anything. If you don’t believe me, check out all the different ways I styled my gladiators here, here, and here. Similar to the OTK boot above, rock these things with a dress, a skirt, or fitted pants. Don’t be surprised if you see these guys […]
High-waisted pants paired with a crop top is one of my all-time favorite outfit combinations. There is something so chic about this effortless look. With more than one business casual occasion on this month’s agenda, when I found these high-waisted wide leg pants at H&M, I knew they would come in handy. Constructed out of gray plaid twill, these pants would match nicely with white, black, or gray! Rather than sticking to solids, I shook things up by incorporating lace into the mix. This black lace crop top hit at just the right spot, perfectly displaying the button details and front creases. Similar to mixing prints, mixing textures is another easy way to add some oomph to your workday ensemble. Sticking to a monochromatic color scheme, I accessorized with black diamond pave earrings and a matching bracelet. I completed the look with black peep toe booties and my favorite glitzy box clutch, courtesy of my sista from another mista, Ava. Unfortunately these exact pants are not available online, but check your local H&M because I just picked them up last Friday. If H&M is not in a city near you, shop a similar pair online here.
