A Crop and a Midi

If you have not yet read my post The White Textured Shirt, then head on over there to get some background info, before you continue reading this post. Anyway, with a busy month coming up, and many social functions already on the calendar, it is time for me to start planning outfits. The minute my hubby sends me an iCal invite, my mind begins to roll with outfit ideas. Planning ahead will undoubtedly save you time, but it will also alleviate stress. Coordinating outfits should be anything but an aggravating experience so don’t let it come to that. Meet my new favorite Wrap Skirt from Nichole Ciotti’s collection for the one and only Kingdom & State!     I had the hardest time finding an ivory or white crop top that would do this skirt justice. When you are working with a gorgeous statement piece like this wrap skirt, you cannot just throw on a cotton-knit sleeveless shirt and call it a day. Add High Style to your To-Do List

Last weekend I had be pleasure of attending the costume exhibition, High Style at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. If you’re reading this blog, then I think it’s safe to assume you’re a fan of fashion and would therefore find this exhibit worth attending! The assortment of garments and accessories on display come from The Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection and elegantly depict the evolution of ladies fashion from 1910-1980.     Showcasing over 60 brilliant creations of both American and French designers, experience life in the 20th century through the era’s ready-to-wear and haute couture styles. The work of preeminent couturiers displayed in High Style include that of: Chanel, Givenchy, Lanvin and Schiaparelli. Distinguished American designers featured include: Charles James, Elizabeth Hawes, Sally Victor, and Gilbert Adrian.     While admiring the works of art from way back when, I could not help but wonder why certain features and silhouettes “made it” into 21st century fashions and some did not. If the Pants Fit!

Just like the saying, “if the shoe fits…” in the KK and GG handbook, the same rule applies when it comes to a pair of pants. While perusing the assortment of pants for sale at The Limited, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the large selection of petites. Being a five-footer, I am constantly taking my maxis and pants to the tailor. While the tailor is probably happy about this, having to pay for a hem job over and over again begins to add up. So, I am very excited to introduce you to the The Limited’s Tapered Trouser Pants.     These pants are great for lounging around, comfortable for a day of shopping, and genuinely figure flattering. Unlike many drawstring pants, these guys have a more structured fit – they don’t look like a pair of pajama bottoms even though they might feel like it. Wish List Wednesday: Swimsuit Must-Haves

Swimsuit shopping is a stressful task. Not only is it the most revealing garment you’ll probably ever wear in public, but maybe the one you like is only sold as a set and you’re not the same size on the top and bottom. The good news is, swimsuit designers are having fun with old fashioned silhouettes and really mixing up the cuts and prints these days. Have your Popsicle and Wear it too this Memorial Day

With Memorial Day weekend quickly approaching, comes barbecues and social gatherings. Whether you are hosting or simply a guest, it’s always fun to rock a festive outfit and really get into the spirit of the holiday. If you are hosting, try wearing something that is easy to cook/move around in, like a pair or shorts, a skort, or a romper.     Food items are trending. If you’re an Instagram junkie, then I am sure you’ve noticed fashionistas decked out in cute donut t-shirts, pineapple graphic tees, fruit-shaped purses, etc. So when I came across this popsicle printed top, for a whopping $15.90 at Forever 21, it was too good to pass up. Playing along with the whole patriotic color scheme, I paired this top with royal blue scalloped shorts – although your go-to denim would work too. I tucked the top in for a tidier look as the shirt is boxy in nature.
