Black and White Plaid

Black and white plaid is one of the most traditional prints you can get your hands on. Whether it is a piece of apparel, or home decor, you cannot go wrong. For the most part, you can wear or decorate with black and white plaid all year round. Style it with a pair of boots during the winter, or throw it on your porch table for a summer barbecue. Purchase a sharp black and white plaid peacoat or some fun plaid placemats. Catch my drift?!   During a recent trip to Napa Valley, I broke out a plaid maxi button-down – sold out but how cute is this dress? I styled the top with knock off Sanctuary leggings, and my go-to pair of knee-high boots. To finish off the look, and more importantly to add some color, I wore a deep maroon hat. The last thing you want to do after a long day of wine tasting is worry about your hair! If you don’t want to be in a dress all day, pair a plaid poncho with your favorite jeans and boots. I am particularly enamored with this one from Asos.   A note about the boots: These suckers […]

Hair Products you Can’t Live Without: Kevin Murphy

Fed up with dry split ends? Look no further than Kevin Murphy’s line of hair care products.   The Angel Wash shampoo is great for color treated hair. It lathers up like no other on the market. You can get away with using a dime-size dollop per wash. It will leave your hair feeling and looking silky smooth.     The Hydrate Me Rinse conditioner is the split end eraser. While some hydrating treatments weigh down your hair, leaving it flat and greasy, this product provides added moisture without the weight or grease. If your hair tangles in the shower, you won’t have to worry about that anymore. Easily run your hands through your luscious locks after the first use.     If primping your hair requires a blow dryer or curling iron, then add Super Goo molding gel into the mix. This product works like Moroccan oil or Chi finishing products, minus the oil. After styling your mane, rub your hands with a pea-size amount and comb it through to alleviate frizz. Notice some added shine without bulk or oil. Did I mention Super Goo is great for men too?!     To find a salon near you who carries Kevin Murphy […]

House Warming Gift for the Pet Lover

Rather than bringing your neighbor a good ol’ jello mold, or popping a bottle of champagne for your bff, gift the new homeowner in your life with something they will cherish forever. A hand painted welcome sign featuring man’s best friend or prissy kitty.     The very talented artist, Sandy Holden, also known as “paintingsbysandy” on Etsy, offers an array of stock dog and cat breeds for you to choose from. At no additional cost, she will add the recipients last name. If you do not find the exact item you’re looking for, don’t sweat it. For an additional cost (and reasonably so), Sandy will gladly paint you a custom pet portrait! Just have your photos handy.     With an extraordinarily fast turn-around time, you should have your hands on the finished product within one week of placing your order. It doesn’t get any better than that! For additional pet lover gift ideas, peruse Sandy’s Etsy shop here.     If you’re reading the email version of this post, click here to read the full version as well as many other posts on KKandGG.com.

2015 Golden Globes: Best Dressed List

With the 72nd Golden Globe Awards in the books, I cannot help but comment on a few of my favorite red carpet looks! Here are my top three.   1.) Emma Stone: This ensemble is PERFECTION. I love a good pants look (if you can’t already tell from yesterday’s post “Can’t Get Enough Peplum”), and I love when celebrities, or women in general, are brave enough to rock one rather than a dress. Emma killed it in this jumpsuit by Lanvin. The bedazzled bodice adds a touch of glam to this piece – it balances out the tailored pants, and the over-sized sash adds just enough drama.       2.) Jennifer Lopez: never ceases to amaze. J. Lo. stopped people in their tracks wearing a gorgeous cape-like Zuhair Murad dress. This glistening gown was pleasing to the eye from every angle. The fit and flare silhouette perfectly showcased her just-right curves while the deep v neck and high slit showed off her youthful bronzed complexion. From the back, this dress could fool you. At a first glance you might think decked out potato sack…that it ain’t!       3.) Nancy O’Dell was beautiful in blue, by Angel Sanchez. […]
