Make a Wise Decision

After reading an article, last fall, on Thrillist, featuring Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen, this place has been on my list of sandwich joints to try. Well this past weekend we finally made our way over to 3150 24th Street – the heart of culture in the the Mission District to indulge in some Jewish “soul food.” Offering an expansive menu of food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner, here you’ll find your matzoh ball soup, potato pancakes (latkes), pastrami or corned beef reubens, decadent club sandwiches and braised brisket. While waiting for my turkey and pastrami “facon” (fake bacon) club, I started out with the most flavorful chocolate babka I’ve ever eaten. It was HUGE and could easily be shared between two people. Already wowed after my first glimpse of Wise Sons’ lip smacking goodness, the club sandwich and fries shortly arrived. Being a Jewish deli, you won’t find pork served here, so in lieu of bacon, the club is comprised of: smoked turkey, pastrami fried like bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and horseradish on challah toast. Thanksgiving Day Fashion

If you need some last minute Thanksgiving outfit inspiration, I am here to help! I associate Thanksgiving with true fall colors, so I always like to incorporate the typical autumn palate into my Thanksgiving attire. For this year, I paired a burnt orange tunic top with some skinny cargos. I was drawn to the Studio Top from Zara, because I could dress it down with some skinny jeans or dress it up with some wax coated black jeans. Because this year’s dinner will be rather casual, I paired it with the most comfortable pants I own. Also from Zara, The Zipped Army Cargo Trousers pictured below, are super stretchy and conform to your body perfectly. Although they are technically light green, I consider them a neutral because just about anything matches with them. I accessorized the outfit with gold leaf earrings, a beaded necklace, and chunky bangles, also in those desired November hues. To funk up the ensemble just a tad, I added a leopard print clutch (similar here) and Franco Sarto leopard print wedges. Turn it up a notch further with a floppy hat and black jacket if you need it. Brighten with Brow Wiz

Manicured eyebrows go a long way. Whether or not you maintain their shape by plucking, waxing, or threading, eyebrows and eyelashes are like the “icing on the cake” when it comes to makeup application. While maintaining their shape is a good start, try adding volume and color with a reliable brow pencil and experience the difference for yourself! Although permanent makeup is gaining in popularity, I find it too dark and long-lasting for the brows. What happens if you decide to go blonde after having them tinted dark brown? Filling in your eyebrows with the right pencil is temporary and can be just as effective. Well, having one of the most reputable names in the fashion and beauty industry, I decided to start out with Chanel’s Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow pencil. Although I was happy with the color and added volume, I did not find the texture as smooth as I thought it should be. Wishlist Wednesday – Winter White and “Bare Pink”

I think it is safe to assume that every fashionista out there has a “wardrobe wishlist!” With holiday parties and plans already in the works, it is time to start thinking about outfits. You might find yourself beginning to ask, what should I wear for Thanksgiving…the first night of Hanukkah? Or, what is the appropriate attire for La Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) and Christmas this year? Well, luckily I have most of those outfits planned out, and I’ll be styling them for you in the near future, but what is on my wardrobe wishlist today, is this ultra girly/glitzy outfit by BCBGMAXAZRIA – PERFECT for New Year’s Eve night! When planning a special occasion outfit, I always recommend starting with one essential piece, and then designing the outfit around that one piece. That one piece could be a dramatic pair of earrings, a statement necklace, a blinged out top or jacket, or a pair of fancy bottoms.
