Kentucky Derby Attire

Mad for plaid…I’m guilty of it. This classic print is taking over the fashion scene and I’m not mad about it! It used to be that you could only find retro prints in preppy styles. Not anymore folks! From lace up sandals, crop tops, two piece sets, to swimsuits there is a checkered print something suitable for everyone!     Growing up my family and I had a tradition of vegging out in the “TV Room” for the Kentucky Derby. This may come as a surprise considering I was raised in Connecticut. It’s not ‘till I attended LSU that I picked up my true “Southern Charm.” Haha. All jokes aside, I remember finding derby fashion fascinating – even back then! It was the one time of year the ladies would suit up in decadent headwear. I probably should have made an effort to go to the races when I lived in Louisiana but sadly I didn’t. Femme Fair 2018

If you follow me on Instagram then you were flooded with pictures and coverage live from Femme Fair not long ago. But if you’re not on “the gram,” then you’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about! Allow me to explain. Femme Fair is an all day affair where women across the Bay Area congregate to connect, empower, and shop! I was honored to participate in the second annual celebration and it was a HUGE success.     This insta-worthy event is packed with goodness. From the beautiful decor, sweets and treats, giveaways, to the VIP gift bags, everything is perfectly curated. All aesthetics aside, the company was my favorite aspect of the day. It is very exhilarating surrounding yourself with like-minded and driven #girlbosses! Affordable Spring Fashion

Let’s get something straight: I have nothing in common with an ostrich. The Bar Method is just THAT good at lengthening the appearance of your legs! Now that we got that cleared up, let’s talk affordable spring fashion.     My boutique closet is plentiful in shorts, skirts, dresses, and jumpsuits/rompers but totally lacking in the shirts department. Express Petite Collection

This weekend I’m setting up shop at Femme Fair for a full day of shopping, mingling, and learning. I already predict that at least three people who meet me for the first time will say, “I had no idea you were so short.” Every year at fashion week my size is a surprise! I thought I was transparent about it…”petite fashion” are the first two words in my IG profile. But in case you missed the memo, I’m five feet tall! Anyway, the reason I bring it up is because shopping for a petite frame is not an easy task. So when I was approached about the new Express Petite Collection, I was all ears.     Being petite means you have a very good relationship with the neighborhood tailor.
