Polka Dots Crop Top + High Waist Pants

Get excited! San Francisco’s most popular clothing boutique just received a new spring shipment, and it’s available to shop here! Current Clothing hands-down carries the most unique assortment of contemporary women’s fashions. Just when I walk out the door with what I think is my new favorite outfit, she pulls something like this out of a box. It happens EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. Today I present you with my “current” obsession, a sheer polka dots crop top.     “Sheer garments are “racy.” I understand why one would draw this conclusion…afterall, “sheer” is a synonym for see-through! BUT, when styled tastefully, sheer garments can be quite elegant. It is all about creating a balance. I love this top because it is a mature take on a classic print. It can be dressed two ways. Obviously I tied it down the front for these photos, but it can also criss cross and tie in the back. I honestly did not even consider the latter until I saw it here. For more coverage, pair it with a solid black bralette and tie it down the back.     I LOVE high waist pants. They sculpt your bod into an hourglass figure, but better than that, […]

Make your Neutral Outfit Pop like this!

Neutrals are the new old but “it” thing. And for some of us, this is a hard thing to accept. I am a lover of color. It makes me happy and I do not have a favorite. I love them all! But in the fashion space, neutrals are top selling items, so it’s time that I dabble in them. And judging by the amount of likes this outfit received on Instagram, y’all are ok with it! So here is my guide to styling a neutral outfit.     Mix Textures Mixing textures is the easiest way, across the board, to add dimension to your ensemble. But dimension isn’t always necessary. When styling neutrals or a monochromatic look, however, it becomes very important. Picture this, a white cotton top, with white cotton pants, and a white cotton sweater. Boring, right?! Now picture this: a white cotton top, with chevron white pants, and lace sweater. Clearly the latter ensemble is a more interesting look.     Opposites Attract Normally when I style a look I come up with a theme for the outfit. Is it edgy, feminine, or simply chic? After I establish the theme, I stick with it to piece together […]

Stripe Pants for Galentine’s Day

There is a story behind every set of blog pics. And often times it is not as glamorous as it looks. Last Saturday Jonathan and I raced out the door to shoot this look during the “golden hour.” There is still A LOT that we need to learn about photography, but the one thing we know for sure is that good lighting is key. After all was said and done, I wasn’t happy with how the photos came out. The background was distracting and the pants are busy on their own. So yesterday afternoon, we shot these stripe pants for the SECOND time.     Chaotic is a good way of describing what a weekday blog shoot looks like in the life of KK and JK. Picture this scenario: 2:15 PM: Jonathan runs out of the medical office building and hops in car 2:20 PM: Arrive at shoot location 2:25 PM: Double park or illegally (please forgive me – we don’t live in the burbs!) block a driveway and keep car running with hazard lights flashing 2:30 PM: Jump in backseat and change out of driving clothes and into styled outfit (wrinkled clothes do not photograph well) 2:30-2:50 PM Point and […]

Wide Leg Culottes and Statement Belt

This probably sounds SO dramatic, but I don’t know how I used to get dressed without my pearl belt. It takes the “chore” out of coordinating an ensemble. No really though, whether it’s your “Saturday uniform,” or wide leg culottes, a chunky belt will elevate your look. I think we can all appreciate an item that is both functional and fashionable! Simply put, if you have been on the fence about adding a fabulous belt to your collection, I vote YES! Plus, it would make a great Valentine’s Day gift for that lady friend in your life…just sayin’, guys!     So now that you have a statement belt in your life, what should you wear it with? Wide leg pants! I love that wide legs are mysterious. No one can ever tell if you are wearing a skirt, dress, or pants! There really is no other garment like that. Not to mention their lengthening ability. If you are petite like me, find yourself a pair of high waist wide leg pants and effortlessly appear a foot taller. I’ll take it! We always want what we cannot have…     Sadly these wide leg culottes sold out faster than I […]
