Celebrate the Holidays in a Silver Metallic Skirt by Kate Spade

Starting Tuesday, I have a holiday related event every day until I take a red eye to the East Coast. As you can probably imagine, I have been outfit planning like whoa! Luckily this blog helps me stay on track. But if you are in the market for festive get up too, consider adding a silver metallic skirt to your holiday attire, like this one by Kate Spade.     There is something to be said about exceptionally well-made garments. To begin, they fit better. Specialty items often require a trip to the tailer. I was pleasantly surprised that this stunner fit me right out of the box! Second of all, they are more resilient. This pretty little thing does not wrinkle. In fact, it holds its shape extraordinarily well. This is a huge plus if you travel during the holiday season. I think it is safe to say we can all appreciate a low maintenance garment! Finally, the quality is first class. This skirt literally resembles liquid metal. I’ll take it!     I do not wear neutral colors very often, but I see why they are so popular. You can dress them so many different ways! Today I […]

Scuba Knit Midi Dress: Proper Wedding Guest Attire

Dressing for a wedding weekend is challenging enough. The Fashionista Conudrum…enough said! But a winter wedding adds a whole new element to the mix. The attempt to stay warm! My best advice is to find a dress with long sleeves. At the very least one long sleeve like this scuba knit midi dress.     The Accessories If you saw Tuesday’s post about my rehearsal dinner attire, then you may have noticed something particular about today’s look. I’m wearing the same accessories! It’s all by design. Whenever I pack for an out of town occasion, I make an effort to wear the same accessories more than once. Let’s face it, shoes, jewelry, and purses are heavy. Spare yourself the excess bulk by packing smart. It only took me about 25 years to figure that one out…P.S. since we are on the topic of “packing smart,” do yourself a favor and invest in a rolling garment bag. Your clothes will wrinkle less and they’re ready to hang when you reach your destination. I have this one and it is worth every penny.     Scuba Knit Midi Dress Introducing the wedding guest dress of the year. This scuba knit midi dress makes […]

Orange Trousers: Wedding Weekend Guest Attire

Dressing for a wedding weekend is quite the challenge. You never want to outshine the bride! It is very hard for me to tone down my style while staying true to myself. As I pieced together this ensemble, for my BIL’s rehearsal dinner, I learned a few things that are worth sharing. Hear me out.     Before aimlessly searching the internet for cocktail attire, think about the location. Is the rehearsal dinner at an elegant restaurant? A country club, or a relative’s home? When I found out that were congregating at my sister-in-law’s house, my outfit options changed significantly. If the celebration is at a private residence, pants are totally acceptable. Typically a lady in a dress is more glamorous than a gal in pants. Luckily I was correct to assume that the bride would be wearing a dress! Once you decide on bottoms, consider styling them with black or brown accents. A “statement” top in black is far less attention grabbing than a statement top in red. Catch my drift?!     These orange trousers are what I refer to as “basic with a twist.” At first glance, they look like a pair of traditional khakis. But they […]

Plaid Crop Top and Bell Bottom Jeans

Happy December, y’all! Do I sound like a Southern belle?! I just touched down in New Orleans for my brother-in-law’s wedding weekend. I am so looking forward to spending time with Jonathan’s family and also excited for the food we are going to eat. If you read this blog on a regular basis, then you know I am a fashionable foodie. Louisiana is home to award-winning seafood and cajun cuisine, but the truth is, Louisianians can cook any type of food well! I lived here for five years without trying crawfish. Seafood isn’t my thing. Regardless, I still daydream about the garlic bread at Little Village, the chicken shawarma at Serops, and the quesadillas at El Gato Negro. It’s all THAT good. But enough about the food. I’ll fill you in on that later. Or, tune into my Instagram stories and watch me eat my way through the bayou!     Now back to business. I do not wear plaid often. It is a little too preppy for my taste. So when I do, it has to be “plaid with a twist!” Today for example, I am showcasing a plaid crop top. This flirty little thing is far from your […]

The Beaded Kimono – A Holiday Dress Alternative

The holiday season is in full swing and so are all of the parties. Today I am introducing you to the perfect holiday dress alternative. I get it. Sometimes a dress just isn’t right for the occasion. After all, I have always considered myself a pant girl! The item you have all been waiting for: a beaded kimono! This snazzy little thing will make dressing for holiday parties a lot more comfortable. And when you’re not festin’ it’ll oomph up your black jean ensemble. Now that is what I call versatility!     So what does one wear underneath a beaded kimono? The options are endless – anything black really. But I jumped at the occasion to try out the bodycon jumpsuit trend. For months I have noticed these onesies and wondered when and where I would ever have the chutpaz to pull one off. Never mind a “standing dress!” Well, it turns out a bodycon jumpsuit and kimono are a match made in heaven. They are like a long pants version of a bodysuit. They eliminate all the excess bulk. To me, nothing is sharper than black on black. Consider dressing your beaded kimono with black accessories and gold […]
