I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. You know in grammar school when you go around the room and say, “I want to be a: teacher, nurse, mechanic, astronaut (how many times did you hear that one?!) when I grow up,” I never had an answer. When it came time for college I knew I liked customer service, business, and fashion but none of the most common majors combined the three. It wasn’t until my sophomore year that I realized I could earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Textile and Apparel Merchandising – the business side of the fashion industry! With ties to the Northeast, I finally had a plan. I would finish college at LSU and move back to the Tristate Area to work in NYC. But even after earning my degree, I wasn’t sold on the idea. I was managing a clothing boutique and LOVED styling outfits for my regular clients. I knew if I aspired to become a retail buyer in NYC, I would not be working directly with consumers. Plus, excel spreadsheets make me crosseyed and dyslexic tendencies start to enter the picture. That could get ugly when you’re in […]
People say, “you are what you eat,” but how about, “you are what you wear?” I am a lover of color. It makes me happy and it gets the creative juices flowing. I am this pleated maxi dress! If you do not want to draw attention to yourself, stay clear of this dress. It will stop people in their tracks. Not only are the colors happy and bright, but the sweeping fabric sways with every move you make. Speaking of, pleated garments are the best because they are easy to care for. You don’t really have to worry about getting anymore wrinkles! Anyway, the fit and feel of this dress is relaxed and cool. Hence the reason it’s great for the fall. You never know if it’ll be in the low 60’s or high 70’s! I usually gravitate towards tailored clothing to avoid the potato sack look, but this pleated maxi dress is an exception. For your reference, I am five feet and wearing the size small. I don’t really care that it is a bit “oversized” because that is sort of the point. This pretty little thing was not made to accentuate your curves. It […]
In San Francisco, wearing yoga pants to brunch is totally acceptable. In fact, it’s the norm. San Franciscans are so health conscious that they’d rather sit sweaty through breakfast than interrupt their workout schedule. I’m ok with it because I am one of those people, but I realize spandex at mealtime doesn’t fly nationwide. Introducing joggers, the new sweatpants that are suitable for day and nighttime wear. Even the ladies of SF approve! The jogger pant consists of an elastic waist and leg openings. The fit is loose and slouchy, and depending on the material, they can look dressy or casual. To me, dressy is safe so I prefer a silk or polyester composition. But if you’re looking for an alternative to your Wunder Unders, consider a cottony material. So how do you style a pair of joggers?! Allow me to explain. For a daytime look, tie up an embellished t-shirt and throw on your favorite slides. Take it up a notch by layering dainty necklaces over each other. Casual has its place but I dressed my joggers for date night. Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of lace can do? This bodysuit singlehandedly transformed […]

Do you want to hear something shocking? For a snippet of my childhood I was a tomboy. I preferred toy trucks to Barbies and baseball outfits to dresses. I even made my mom throw me a Bart Simpson birthday party (insert laughing emoji) complete with a Bart cake. Fast forward a few years and I was wearing jelly sandals (the high heel version – duh) and getting regular manicures from an embarrassingly young age. As the girly girl in me flourished, I went through the obligatory pink stage. Everything I owned and wore was pink. I even went as far as having personalized license plates for my car that read, “Pink 1.” Well well well, not much has changed aside from my diverse color palette. But I like to think that I am a more mature version of that girl! For all of the glamorous gals out there, I invite you to channel your inner girly girl in this sequin romper. This PRETTYLITTLETHING hits and cuts out in all of the right places. I typically reserve sequins for New Year’s Eve, but this style is suitable for wear all year round. The all over black sequins are SO […]
