Traveling in comfortable clothes is essential. With the inevitable delays and interruptions that come along with air travel, the least you can do is enjoy your outfit and remain comfortable. Last week I flew to Lafayette, Louisiana in this airplane attire. Simply put, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Hot or Cold Are you hot or cold natured? When you dress for a flight this is a very important question to ask yourself. I am always hot. Knowing this about myself I always dress for the plane in lightweight garments and layers. This jumpsuit is cool and feels like pajamas. I draped this jacket over my shoulders while indoors in the A/C. ETA What is your ETA? Is your host/hostess taking you out to brunch upon your arrival? Will you be hitting up to club post flight? Consider the time of day when choosing your airplane attire. My flight landed at 2pm and I was not sure what the plan was. This jumpsuit was suitable for a late lunch or Memorial Day Weekend barbecue. Footwear While this might seem obvious, a friendly reminder never hurts. Pack the platforms and […]
Note to self: Do not use a frozen dessert as a prop in Louisiana! Hopefully you saw the live footage on Instagram stories of this sweet treat melting to a puddle in a matter of SECONDS. Ava and I got a good laugh as our “great idea” turned into a sticky mess right before our eyes. Regardless, I did manage to try the boci (hazelnut) gelato and boy was it DELICIOUS. I have not tasted gelato as creamy and flavorful since my Italian holiday. Lafayette residents, run don’t walk to Carpe Diem! Now about this yellow plaid skort… It has been years since I last wore a skort but I can say with confidence that I have been missing out. It is WAY too hot and humid in Louisiana to wear anything other than loose fitting clothes. A skort is the perfect happy medium as it is a cross between shorts and a skirt! This little number was perfect for an afternoon in downtown Lafayette. I was impressed with the variety of store fronts and restaurants up and down Jefferson Street. Already looking forward to my next visit, I cannot wait to try the frozen rosé at Pop’s […]
Every year I visit Louisiana, I get asked the same question. What’s a California girl doing down on the bayou?! Allow me to explain! LSU is my alma mater and I just so happened to meet two of my favorite people during my time there. Jonathan and Ava – my bff. Despite our long distance friendship, we chat all the time and see each other once a year. It was my turn to travel so here I am! Lucky for me because the opportunity presented itself to work with Elle Rae Boutique. This hip boutique offers Lafayette gals a lovely assortment of dresses, tops, pants, shoes and accessories. I love when you can pop in a store and leave in a new ensemble head to toe! Anyway, two-piece sets remain hot for the summer and Elle Rae Boutique has you covered. Matching separates are awesome because they take the guess work out of coordinating an outfit. Less work equals more time saved. This striped version is perfection and only $59. The fit is very sweet. High cut shorts that drape like a skirt. The top is darling as it features an open back and ties at […]
Jonathan and I LOVED downtown Bend. We enjoyed the peaceful stroll down Wall Street to the heart of it all. I am not sure we will ever get over the fact that there was never a wait for a table outside. Ok fine, I misspoke. We waited 20 minutes for brunch at McKay Cottage. Do you remember our experience at Outerlands?! I’d wait 20 minutes any day to sit under the trees over a pancake breakfast! We always try and leave on a high note, so after two nights at the Wall Street Suites, we Ubered North to spend the duration of the trip at, the Pronghorn Resort. Whoa! What a change in scenery. Set off the beaten path sits Pronghorn Resort, a cross between a ski village and flourishing golf community. This place has SO much potential. Do not get me wrong, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but the best is yet to come. Featuring three restaurants, three golf courses, a pool, tennis courts, and spa (currently under renovation), Pronghorn is soon to be an oasis for locals and tourists alike. Hopefully you were there in spirits as I toured the grounds via Instagram stories. The pool […]
Where to eat, What to do, and Where to Stay in Downtown Bend, OR
Now that you know what to wear for a day on the Deschutes River, it is time to get the the nitty gritty. Let’s talk about the food, the activities, and the room accommodations in downtown Bend. Hear me out! Where to Eat It is no secret: I LOVE food! I’m not a “foodie,” rather just a girl who enjoys to eat and appreciates good grub. I use Yelp to map out the restaurants around me and highlight the dog-friendly options. I’m that person who doesn’t know what the inside of the restaurant looks like #dogmomlife. But patios…I got you covered! If you’re into hummus, kabobs, and baklava, Zoolz Mediterranean eatery is for you. We were impressed with the libations and pleasantly surprised to find halloumi cheese on the menu. Aside from the cheese and beverages, the kabobs and moroccan chicken were both incredible. I’d pay for the yogurt dip recipe! La Magie is a rich way to start the day. By that I mean that you’re in trouble if you have a sweet tooth! This cafe and bakery offers an array of both sweet and savory breakfast items. I ordered the quinoa scramble and could have licked the […]
