Bend Attire: Exploring the Pacific Northwest

After a wonderful weekend In Bend, OR to it is time to discuss what to wear on your next trip! In all honesty, I pay no attention to what the locals wear when I visit a new place. I overdress because that is what makes me feel comfortable. I am not practical, and I have no regrets. When I dress funky, people ask me about my clothes. With questions comes conversation about my fashion blog. It’s a win win! Anyway, when packing for my trip, rather than focusing on what I thought was the “proper” Bend Attire, I watched the weather channel closely and coordinated ensembles around the weather.     I knew that we would be walking, dining al fresco with GG, drinking beer, and biking. I knew I would need functional outfits that could go from day to night. Those are the best because it cuts down on the bulk in your suitcase. Rather than packing two outfits per day, just pack a pair of jeans to replace the shorts or heels to replace the flats. Catch my drift?! After arriving late Friday evening, Saturday’s look had to get me through a long day of playing tourist. I’m glad I got it right […]

Packing for Bend, OR – Wish Me Luck

In T-24 hours, Jonathan, GG and I are off to Bend, OR for another adventure in the Pacific Northwest. I’m originally an East Coast girl and he a southern gentleman, but we’ve been living the dream in San Francisco since May 2013. We love California because there are so many neat places to visit without even leaving the state. But now that we’ve been up and down the Golden State, we figure it’s time to explore a new city and state. We chose Bend because of its dog-friendly reputation. Nobody leaves baby GG in the corner!   I’ve been watching the forecast like a hawk so that I can plan my outfits accordingly. Evidently San Francisco and Karl the Fog have met their match. Mid 70s during the day and 40s at night…I kid you not. I’m packing looks that can go from day to night with or without a jacket. If it’s anything like SF, it’ll be freezing by Happy Hour…I’m not afraid to break out the Uggs if I need ’em! Here is a sneak peek into my suitcase and what I am packing for Bend. Click the pink buttons to shop each item! A t-shirt dress is always […]

Drop Waist Dress – Victoria Beckham for Target

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already caught a glimpse of this drop waist dress and the story behind it. I am particularly proud of this look because I took the photos using a tripod and remote! Never in a million years did I think I’d be capable of embracing the awkward and posing for a “ghost photographer.” But you know what they say, “desperate times call for desperate measures.” In an effort to “nurture my relationship,” this is my attempt to give Jonathan a break. I cannot guarantee GG will pose like a statue every time, but I can guarantee that I’ll publish content more frequently.     Target nails it again! But this time with the guidance of fashion designer Victoria Beckham. Every few years, they collaborate with a designer and curate an exclusive collection of affordably priced items. After a frustrating experience during the Lilly launch in 2015, I decided to buy in-store only. I’m happy to report that I still managed to snag my favorite item from the collection, a drop waist scallop hem dress! As it turns out, some things really are worth waiting for.     After the launch date I read a […]

Everybody has a Go-To Outfit

Whether or not you are a full time or part time fashionista, you probably have a “go-to outfit.” What I am referring to is that ensemble you recycle and wear many times over. Your last minute outfit. Your I don’t feel like putting anything together outfit. Catch my drift?! Even as a full time fashion blogger I confess to owning one too. Today is my attempt to teach you how to coordinate a go-to outfit to avoid those infamous wardrobe malfunctions.     Jeans are the most versatile article of clothing in your closet. Invest in an embellished pair. They do not have to be destroyed like mine but make sure they have a “twist.” Consider embroidered denim, fringe hem denim, or black denim. But if you’re brave enough to rock a pair, I highly recommend distressed denim. Take my word for it, there’s no better conversation starter!     Now that we have the pants figured out, let’s discuss the shirt. Stick with a solid. It will make jacket pairing easier and you can always dress up a solid with accessories. Ruffles are HUGE this season so a top like this is easy to find but if you’re not […]

A Day in the Life of a Hair Model: Mane Addicts by Jen Atkin

If you are a fan of pop culture chances are high you have heard of Jen Atkin. She is one of hollywood’s most sought after hair stylists. Her clients includes celebrities personalities: Gigi Hadid, Jennifer Lopez, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba, and the Kardashian/Jenner women. Let’s just say she’s “been around” and she has her hands full (literally and figuratively). Well, as of Monday evening, she can add yours truly to the list, and I can add hair model to my resume! It was an absolute pleasure to be apart of Mane Addicts University with Jen Atkin.     So what is a day in the life of a hair model? Well, hopefully you follow my Instagram “stories” because the cameras were rollin’. But if you don’t, consider this reason number 9,999 to do so! There were six models total – three brunettes and three blondes. The blondes were styled by the braid genius Heather Chapman, and Jen worked with the brown haired folk. As an admirer of Khloe Kardashian’s famous “beach waves,” it was fascinating to see this hairstyle live in the making! While I am no expert, I did manage to take away a couple of tips worth sharing. […]
