Medieval styles are making a comeback in the form of chainmail! Crafted out of interlocking metal rings (like a metal mesh fabric), this old time textile was worn as a form of armor during the Medieval Era. It protected warriors against sharp objects without sacrificing the flexibility that they needed on the battlefield. I was first introduced to “mail” during a costume history class at LSU. At the time I thought half of the information I was memorizing was a waste of brain space. But here I am regurgitating it several years later! If you keep up with pop culture, then you may recall seeing Kim Kardashian in this two-piece chainmail outfit two years ago. While some critics were quick to express their disapproval, I liked it! With dinner plans and a dance party on the calendar for New Year’s Eve, this little number might be the winner! This imitation chainmail piece is a personal favorite for many reasons. One of which is its versatility. It is suitable for a black tie affair and everything in between with the right accessories. The fit is incredible and it is all because of the woven material. For today’s […]

Black on black is a holiday-friendly dress combination. It is simply chic and appropriate both in and out of the office. Add some glitter here, or some sparkle there, and just like that you’re party ready. Read on to find out how I styled this two-piece pants suit for day and nighttime wear. If you were “blessed” with a petite frame, palazzo pants will do you wonders. They have the same affect as stilts! I never pass up a well fitting pair. It is your lucky day because Current Clothing (415-400-5517) has them in stock and they’re FABULOUS! For a day at the office, I paired them with the crop top from yesterday’s post, and topped it with a short cape blazer. Fast forward to the weekend… We were invited to a Great Gatsby themed housewarming party. While it would have been the appropriate time to break out the fringe and pearls, I just wasn’t feelin’ it. A cold front moved through the Bay Area and a dress was out of the question. Thanks to Marina William’s Etsy shop, I was able to get another use out of this two-piece pants suit! Now do […]
The only thing better than a fresh bouquet of peonies is a metallic skirt covered in ’em! Outfit planning is my jam and ideally I like to plan them per the occasion. It makes for a smarter shopping experience. Otherwise, it is like going to the grocery store on an empty stomach! Catch my drift? Although I do not have an event to wear this to, some things are too good to pass up. This peony skirt is of them! The photos do not do it justice. The beautiful metallic jacquard dazzles in the light and the sweeping full skirt is fit for a queen. Good thing my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks! As with any statement piece, you do not want to compete with it. I stuck to my own rules and dressed in black accents. The waist is high cut so a bodysuit or crop top is what I recommend. I chose the latter and topped it with a faux fur black stole. This pretty little thing is the only memory I have of my 21st birthday and almost a decade later it is still in style! I completed the […]
