NYFW Outfit Recap: Free People Mini Dress

Hopefully you’re following me on Instagram, so that you could experience New York Fashion Week with me! It was so much fun being surrounded by like-minded individuals who are equally as passionate about fashion and I am. After a killer first night at the Lulus Style Studio, I had the pleasure of attending the LIKEtoKNOW.it rooftop party at Milk Studios. Fashionistas from across the county gathered here to meet and greet, including big name bloggers, Something Navy, Carrie Bradshaw Lied, and Emily Gemma to name a few. Real Housewives and Bachelor stars were also among us, so I was told, although I do not watch either show. As you can probably imagine, everyone there was dressed to kill! Itching to wear my Stuart Weitzman Troika Boots for the first time, I showed up in a Free People mini dress. You can always count on FP for well-made and unique items. Now that we have our shoes and jewelry lined up for the season, it is time to think about fall bags! Not only is it important to store our prized possessions somewhere safe, but a fabulous purse has the potential to transform an ensemble from good to great! Just about five years ago my hubby and I were shopping for wedding bands when we discovered the next big thing! Not used to wearing jewelry, my husband wanted something that would get the point across without being too flashy. After trying on a number of rings of varying widths and metals, he settled on a rose gold wedding band. I kid you not, three months later, rose gold was everywhere. I had no idea I was marrying such a trend setter! Now that it is easy to get your hands on rose gold jewelry, I cannot get enough it it. Check out the Kendra Scott items I am currently swooning over. Denim Skirt + Cross Front Sweater

Bring on the fall weather! I know I’ve been talking a lot about transitional outfits, but it’s all for a good cause. There is nothing worse than spending an extra 30 minutes getting dressed because you are afraid your look is out of season. Add a denim skirt to your rotation and you’ll thank me later! For the warm September days where long pants are not an option, your denim skirt will become a life saver. Whether it’s an aline button up (as seen here), a maxi, or a distressed mini, they will all have the same affect. I chose the latter for today’s post. Now that you’re a proud owner of a denim skirt, how do you dress it? One way to do it is to layer. Consider topping sleeveless outerwear over your fall hues. In this look, I layered a faux fur vest over a sheer cropped top. The top kept me cool, while the vest added a nice autumn touch.
