White Two-Piece Set

78 degrees and sunny near the end of February?! I’ll take it! While it was about 10 degrees cooler in San Francisco, I spent the weekend in Sedona, AZ with my mom and her high school bff, to catch the end of the Sedona International Film Festival. Yay – another occasion to play dress-up!     Now what do you wear in the desert, you may ask? I started out in this travel attire, then transitioned into lighter weight ensembles as the temperature began to rise. This white two-piece set being one of them. When I came across this little number at Current Clothing, it had Sedona written all over it. Between the beautiful red rock formations and strong Navajo influence, I had a funny feeling the tassels and Southwestern design would fit right in with the city scene.     One of the reasons I love to travel with matching separates is because they can make a statement in and of themselves. Fashionable Rolling Carry-On

Who would have thought that finding a fashionable rolling carry-on would be SO hard? After looking just about everywhere, I was ready to throw in the towel and give in to the back pain that comes along with carrying a shoulder bag weighed down with a laptop and camera. More than that, luggage isn’t cheap, and I was not comfortable spending $300 on a Tumi or Victorinox that I was not excited about. Boy am I glad I happened to stroll into Toss Designs on Chestnut Street!     Hallelujah! There it was. Sitting pretty on the shelf, an orange leather rolling carry-on perfect for a fashionista. The color is not the only thing worth drooling over. The leather is incredibly soft and features fine gold and bamboo details. Gold hardware is the key to my heart, and during my online search, all that I could find was chrome! The interior is lined in canvas and includes a side zip pocket. As if it wasn’t good enough already, get ready for this…the wheel base is detachable. When you’re off the plane, remove the wheels and use as a shoulder bag. When in Doubt, Wear a Little Black Dress

One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress. – Karl Lagerfeld   Words of the wise, when in doubt, wear a little black dress! If you follow @kelseykaplanfashion on Insta, then you know by now that when it comes to outfits I am a planner! Mixed Textures for Added Pop

One of the easiest ways to stand out in a crowd is by incorporating mixed textures into your ensemble. Similar to mixing prints, this fashion hack applies to a monochromatic look, a classic black and white look, the list goes on…     A white blouse is a wardrobe staple and before last year’s holiday look, Get Your Sparkle On, believe it or not, I did not own one! I have no idea how I managed for so long because these classic items are suitable for day and night wear and everything in between. When I came across this beautiful rose collar blouse,  at Forever 21, I could hardly believe my eyes. Only $22.90, I thought to myself, this looks like it’s from Saks or Barney’s! Man do I love a good look for less.     Although your first instinct may be to pair this top with solid black bottoms, that is the easy way out. Fashion is like interpreting a poem.
