Wish List Wednesday: Beauty Must-Haves

Good morning readers! With a new year comes new beauty must-haves. On this Wish List Wednesday I have rounded up three items I am very eager to try. Enjoy, and please let me know what other products I should add to this list.   I think we can all agree that when it comes to makeup application, our foundation is the most important piece of the puzzle. Blush Shift Dress

I have another item for you to add to your wardrobe and today it comes in the form of a blush shift dress! With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, I’ve got red and pink on my mind. Having already styled a steamy look here and one in between here, I kept things day date appropriate for the third and final Valentine’s Day look.     Pantone chose it, and the designers ran with it! “Rose quartz” aka pastel pink is EVERYWHERE, and there is no better way to spend the day “blushing” with your sweetie than in this shift from lulus. This easy dress will look fabulous solo or topped with a jacket or longline vest. With sunny skies in the Bay Area forecast I styled it solo and accessorized with a tassel scarf. Similar to last weeks look, the scarf’s colorful pattern added just enough oomph to keep the ensemble interesting. I accessorized with classic pearls, and my favorite Seychelles shoes. Lace Bodysuit and a Skater Skirt

I love lace, and I love bodysuits. Put the two together and what you get is chic perfection! The last time I styled one was for my “Blogiversary,” when I accented a feather blazer with a lace bodysuit. In today’s look, the lace bodysuit is the statement piece.     Lace can be classy when styled tastefully – don’t let it scare you away. One of the easiest ways to tone lace down is by pairing it with matching separates, as demonstrated in today’s outfit. Do you agree that this look would be considered way racy if paired with a bright red skirt?! Stick with a monochromatic scheme to avoid the steam. This goes for your undergarments as well.     Unless you are toping your lace bodysuit with a jacket or blazer, choose a loose fitting garment for your lower half. This could come in the form of a maxi skirt, palazzo pants, or any a-line silhouette. I matched a navy blue skater skirt with mine. How to Style Contrasting Colors

Transform a simple outfit, into a fashion masterpiece, in a matter of seconds, using this guide to styling contrasting colors.     Begin by identifying the focal point of the ensemble. In this case the chartreuse shirt is the main focus. After that, think complimentary colors (opposites on the color wheel) to help you choose a contrasting hue. Although chartreuse is not on the color wheel, yellow is, so I went with turquoise, a shade of blue.     Next, embellish the look with a bold print. Be sure to pick a pattern inclusive of both the focus color, and the complimentary color. I chose an infinity scarf to dress up the top, but a purse would have had a similar effect. Take it one step further with jewelry, like the turquoise earrings and ring pictured here.     Finally, incorporate neutral accents to ensure a polished look. In this instance I paired this top with gray jeans to avoid introducing yet another shade of blue into the mix. Wish List Wednesday: Valentine’s Day Gift
