Elevate your Mood in a Floral Suit

“Dress to Impress,” what does this phrase mean to you?! Does it mean you should dress yourself in clothes that that will impress others, or does it simply mean you should be thoughtful with the clothes you put on your body? I’m here to remind you that you can actually elevate your mood in the right outfit! Here are three tips to make that happen every time you walk out the door.

Think color

Yep, I said it…incorporate color into your ensemble and stand out from the crowd. Colors can subconsciously and consciously affect our mood. Think about it, when someone brings you a colorful bouquet of flowers you can’t help but smile. Well, whether it is you impressed with the vibrant outfit you put together, or the people around you, it gives off positive vibes. Tip: introduce bright hues into your wardrobe beginning with shoes and accessories.

Tame your Mane

“Dressing up” does not stop with the articles of clothing you put on your body. Set aside time to primp your hair. Ever since I was a little girl, bad hair days turned into bad everything else days! Like what you wear

I’ll be the first to admit it, I am happier when I like my outfit! Quit settling for mediocre ensembles, and feel like a million bucks in everything you wear! Your sense of style is evident by the objects in which you adorn yourself. Simply put, it doesn’t stop at your clothing. Instead, it extends to: tattoos, jewelry, phone cases, and maybe even your dog’s leash. Well, it’s no secret that GG is my best accessory. So when it comes to her “gear” I treat it as my own. I would never walk her down the street with any old leash, just as I would never leave the house in a schmatta! She deserves the best of the best.

I chose the “Golden Dog” collar and matching bracelet because GG’s style is an extension of mine. Gold is my favorite neutral – the bracelet will match with everything that I own. Black and gold is a reliable combo because it can go dressy or casual and is suitable for wear all year round. This ensemble is what I refer to as feminine with an edge. The polka dot top flaunts my girly side while the studded booties bring out my edgy side. It is all about balance! Side Slit Jeans and Sheer Lace Top

2017 is denim’s best year yet. But before we go there, let’s take a minute to reflect on the evolution of jeans. It all began in the late 1800s when Levis Strauss teamed up with the tailor Jacob Davis to craft a pair of durable “work pants.” Who knew decades later they’d become one of the most commonly worn garments in history?! Over the years we’ve witnessed this classic pant change with the times – for better and for worse. Fast forward to 2017 and “mom jeans” are back in style and the more rips in your pants the better. But it doesn’t stop there. Over the next few weeks I will be showcasing the latest and greatest in jeans and how you can go about styling them. Today we’ll cover the side slit jean trend.

Across the board, unfinished hens are IN. From rips, fringes, high-low hems, to slits, you name it it’s out there. Today we feature side slit jeans from the one and only Storets. I am in love with this trend because it is a comfortable alternative to dress pants. If you didn’t see the back pockets, you could easily mistake these stunners for a pair of powder blue slacks! That’s the kind of versatility I always look for.

When styling trendy jeans it’s important to consider their level of fancy. For example, destroyed or distressed jeans are casual. Pearl embellished jeans are dressy. In this case, side slit jeans fall right in between. Fancy is my middle name so I paired these bottoms with a sheer crop top. As you can see, I could literally swap the jeans for dress pants and the outfit would have the same affect! Next time I’ll go down the casual route and pair them with an embellished tee and mules or fishnet stockings and pumps during the fall. What is your favorite denim trend this year?! A Crop and a Midi

If you have not yet read my post The White Textured Shirt, then head on over there to get some background info, before you continue reading this post. Anyway, with a busy month coming up, and many social functions already on the calendar, it is time for me to start planning outfits. The minute my hubby sends me an iCal invite, my mind begins to roll with outfit ideas. Planning ahead will undoubtedly save you time, but it will also alleviate stress. Coordinating outfits should be anything but an aggravating experience so don’t let it come to that. Meet my new favorite Wrap Skirt from Nichole Ciotti’s collection for the one and only Kingdom & State!

I had the hardest time finding an ivory or white crop top that would do this skirt justice. When you are working with a gorgeous statement piece like this wrap skirt, you cannot just throw on a cotton-knit sleeveless shirt and call it a day. While it took a little bit of digging, when I came across the Nyella Banded Bra Top at BCBG, I knew it was a winner! I love how clean cut it looks yet the banded crisscross front and the cutout lower back add just enough edge. Although feeling a bit bashful with an exposed midsection, I had to get over it. You can still look elegant in a crop top – it just has to be paired with the right bottom. According to the KK and GG handbook, as long as your bellybutton is concealed, and your lower half is suited up in a lady-like garment, you have nothing to worry about. In this case, the ultra feminine silhouette of the skirt and the charming periwinkle hue balanced out the fit of the top. Anyway, I accessorized the look with a pink and blue necklace, pearl rings, and blue lace-up shoes. I polished off the ensemble with a gold box clutch and a bright pink lip.
